Flexeril is normally a short term muscle relaxing med for muscle strain. Can it be used long term as needed to reduce muscle discomfort caused by abdominal mesh implants and also for anti-anxiety relief? It is also an anti-anxiety med as well as a muscle relaxent.

I had it prescribed for muscle tension to relieve tension headaches. It nearly killed me! It relaxed my heart muscle so severly that I felt terrible and went back to the doctor. My BP was down to 65/30! Be carefull with that stuff! ;-)=

No medicine is supposed to be used long-term, But Flexeril is a non-narcotic muscle relaxer and anti-inflammatory. But it can be used long-term, but your doctor will most likely switch medicines every 3 to 6 months so your body doesn,t become immune to it. Hey, it works for some people but like all those type of meds they usually only work for a short time. But Good Luck

It probably can be used long term, but it should not be. It is addictive and with prolonged use you'll have to keep increasing your dosage to get the same affects. Also, you'll become dependent on it and if you stop taking it you'll have some serious side effects like massive headaches, shakes, fatigue, etc.
I had all kinds of problems and I only took it once per night for about 2 months. I wouldn't reccomend using it long term.
