I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.
It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.
A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. Check it out.

One of the problems that many people encounter when they begin an exercise program is that they gain weight because they eat more. It's important to keep your food intake at less than 2000 calories per day.
When it comes to exercise, length of time spent exercising is more important than distance. You need to be doing at least 30-45 minutes for 5 days a week. When it starts to get easy, increase your speed. If you can, try and do some weight training exercise to try and build some muscle. It will increase the rate at which you burn fat.
If you follow the pattern of eating less and exercising more, you should be able to lose 1-2 lbs a week. You will eventually hit a plateau, where your weight loss will level off and it will be harder to lose. At that point you need to increase the length of time and intensity of your workout.
Good luck.

you should be around 110lbs at 5'2 BUT you've probably plateau'd. any less than 100lbs is a health risk, but, I should try to be helpful, not criticize, so try cutting to a 1200calorie diet, or drinking meal replacment shakes. Also. it's not the weight in numbers that matters. I'm 5'9, I would love to be 145lbs but with the fact that I'd have muscle, and would like more in my arms and stomach, i will never be that because muscle weighs more than fat. 155 will probably be the lowest i can be. You should feel that you look good, and not concentrate on the numbers. Running will strengthen your calf muscles, among others, so possibly, the only way for you to lose more weight, would be to lose muscle.

yes you will start to notice after a couple weeks you will probably start losing about 2 lbs per week- this is healthy weight loss
you might want to try and cut some unhealthy foods out of your diet to further increase your weight loss
eating small meals 5 times a day increases your metabolism with drinking lots of water, juice, and milk

140 and 5'6" is quite healthy, assuming you have a medium frame. The range is about 117 to 143 lbs. Exercise converts fat to muscle, and that's not a bad thing, but you need a certain amount of fat to remain healthy.
