gets real bad when idle.
car has a little loss of power.
gas consumption is very high.
no excessive smoke.
cabin also has sweet smell like radiator fluid but it is faint.
i just had catalycs, 02 sensors, and mufflers replaced.
checked radiator and it is at proper level as always. radiator was replaced about 2 year ago. also replaced water pump 2 years ago.

sweet smell indicate the coolant is leaking next to the exhaust pipe or leak headgasket. next, look for exhaust leak.

There is two possible problems. And most likely it is a combination of the two. First check your floor boards and firewall to see if you have any holes from rust of a loose seal. Also while your at it make sure all your seals on doors/trunk are still in good shape. Secondly you probably have a hole or leak in the exhaust system. Most people I know that have this problem either have the leak in the collector or by the muffler. If it is either one of these two problems you should be able to fix it yourself if you are moderately technically inclined. If it does not appear to be either of these I highly suggest you take it to a mechanic. Remember if you smell it it means carbon monoxide is getting in your cabin.

the smell is coming from a head gasket exhaust fumes are mixing with the antifreeze and are coming in through the vents this car is famous for head gaskets
