I have two kittens; one if about 14 weeks (Gia) and the other is about 16 weeks (Ly). When I got them I was using an uncovered litter box and they both covered their poop the way they were supposed to. Unfortunately that became too stinky for me to bear and I got a covered air-filtered kitty-box. I clean the box about once every two days and I use an inexpensive litter ($3.00 for a large bag) that looks a bit like gravel. I have used several different litters since adopting them. The problem is when I got the new box my kittens stopped covering their poop, or one of them did...not sure which. Anyways, Ly is a Persian and every time she gets into the box, she comes out with pooey feet and doo-doo stuck to her fur and then she leaves her little pooey pawprints on everything she touches. Gross! Anyways, what is wrong and how can I get them to start covering their business again? Should I switch litters? Do away with the covered box?

you are confusing them, stick with one type of litter. I would go back to the one that they covered it in the first place.

I have one cat that never learned that in kitten school. One of the other cats will often go in and cover it for him! They make a cool litter box that cleans itself when the cat steps out of the box. That might be just the ticket for your situation. You can get them at most pet stores or probably find them online.
