They are 9 & 10 months old & we originally had only 2. My brother needed me to take care of his dog b/c he is working out of town. His dog is the brother to my Boston terrier. All they dogs get along very well, but I cannot take this marking their territory stuff. The whole back yard smells of urine & I want to be able to go out on the deck without worrying about sitting in pee. My German shep & Boston terrier didn't do this before the other one came along. I am afraid that my brother's dog is teaching mine bad habbits. Also, my brother's dog is a dramatic little thing. He is a baby & will limp when he know's you are looking. If he doesn't know your watching, he will run & play, but if he see's you, he limps & cries like he's hurt, & everyone knows he just wants attention. It's actually amusing to watch him do that-he is quite the little actor.

Since male dogs pee where there is another scent, they usually sniff before they pee. Sprinkle cayenne pepper where you DON'T want them to pee. They will avoid that area at all cost, and it will not hurt the dogs at all.

I have a Boston Terrier also and you are right.....they are quite the lil actors. I do not have other dogs around just a cat that is 10 years older, but they are the best of buddies.
Everyone above is definately right when they say that they are territorial and marking their domain.
When I was breeding German Shepards I had litters of mostly 10 to 12 pups and the marking of territory was way out of hand. The vet that I used told me to mix Caster Oil (SP?) in a mix of 3 to 1 with water bing the 1. Put the mixture into a spray bottle and spray the area's that you do not want them near. There is something in the Caster Oil that messes with the dog nose and they move on. This does not hurt the dog nose, it takes away the ability to smell. I have seen this displayed also in Police Dogs that are drug sniffers. Dealers spray all the kilo's of drugs with the mixture as well as the outside of what ever they transporting the drugs in.
In closing it worked for me and as I have seen with Police dogs. Give it a try, good luck.

Hahaha... The old new male in the house competition going on there Eh? LOL Your boys are saying that new guy isn't going to mark over here this is all mine so he goes right on top and the last scent in (or out) is the strongest. LOL Well, being that it is outside you might want to wash off as much odor as you can and then use some dog off spray. Also get something maybe a nice little potted plant that you don't mind loosing, and place it in the opposite side of the area they have been marking, like 10-15 feet away from the house where they have been marking. See if you can get them to like that as a pissing post (lol) If they don't use it themselves, see if you can collect some urine and mark it, they should pick up the scent and want to mark it again. Reward them for going in the right place, and in a loud voice tell them NO! when they attempt the side of the house again.

The dogs need to be fenced in there own area away from the house and the deck . They have some real nice fence panels that you can buy already made to set up they come in different size's and there not that expensive .All you have to do is clamp them together . They sell them at your local feed and grain stores or home depo has the too. Or you could save some money and build your own fencing .Make sure it isn't made out of wood or they will mark there territory by lifting there leg and spraying on that as well . And that will start to smell like urion .Hope this helps .

Male dogs will mark their territory. If they only started it since your brother's dog came along, that's why. They see him as a threat. Even when the other dog leaves, your dogs will continue to mark. Getting them neutered will probably help some, I hope it does since my Shih Tzu male has decided to start marking in the house since I got a female Yorkie puppy. He never did this before, and the vet told me that if he is neutered it should help, but may not completely stop this problem. Maybe you should scold them for marking and make an appointment with your vet. If you don't want to breed them anyway, neutered dogs are usually less aggressive and healthier dogs than non neutered dogs. Good luck.

Your brother's dog isn't teaching your dogs bad habits. Usually when new dogs enter a territory this is what results. Clean your home with vinegar, nature's miracle, or simple solution (mixed w/ water). Purchase Boundery. It's a deterant and prevents animals from marking their territory. Spray that around your house and deck and that should help w/ the problem.
Good Luck

Try washing down the area, make it inaccessible to them and walking them outside of the yard. Your brothers dogs is only trying to claim territory (its what dogs do)Go to the pet store buy some heavy duty pet deodorizer. After you use the cleaner take the dogs on walks to releive themselves then release them into your yard.

Male dogs mark. Neutering should reduce the amount of marking but I doubt if you will ever get it to stop all together with 3 males around.

the dogs are being territorial. Getting them fixed might fix the problem. you can also try a dog peeing post. here's a link to get an idea. Dogs are attracted to the scent and will pee on it. good luck. ps. the cayenne peppper sounds like a good idea, u should try it
