I know its illegal in Kansas to cross state lines with anyone under 18 w/o parents permission and someone over 18 being in the car. They don't enforce it though. But, I dont' know about everywhere else

Do you mean just crossing the state line to shop and come home, or running away ?

A child of 16 is still under the custody and control of the parent and can not go without thier knowledge or permission in general anywhere, going to the mall when you are suppose to be home can be illegal for a teen if the parents push it with the Juv court

Rule of thumb, if you have to ask it probably is. Far as State Laws go, that is a State by State thing, Federal Law says 18 is Adult. Anything under 18 is a Minor, if it takes 15-to-20 to figure that out someone broke the law.
I would just shoot the s.o.b. that took my child out of state. But that's how I roll.

I wouldn't think so, unless you were driving under the hours stated not to on your DL.
