Well first off if you installed the software, is the Burner a CD Burner-DVD Rom or CD-DVD Burner, if it is a DVD Burner I would go into your device manager and check and see that it does not have any problems, if the little yellow sign next to it then I would right click on it and then remove it and shut down and let windows re-install it. but then also that depends on what version of windows your using, Myself I would go to www.nero.com and download the trial version of nero and try it out,, I love it, I dont even mess with any other burn software anymore,, also if your not sure - look at the front of the burner it might say cd rewrite dvd rom or it will say DVD R/RW to find out if its what your wanting

Check to make sure that you DO have a DVD burner, hopefully somewhere on the face of the device you should see DVD r/rw. Now assuming that you DO have a burner, there's only one other thing that could be causing your problem and that is - You are choosing to make a CD instead of DVD, if you do then it will eject the disc if you have chosen to make a CD and insert a DVD or vice versa. (if this is what you're doing you should get a message after ejecting that the media is incorrect or something to that effect)
So if you DO have a burner and assuming you are using Nero (even if you are not, this is a good example). When you launch Nero (or whatever software you are using) from the projects option be sure to CHOOSE "DVD" if you want to burn a DVD and not CD project and vice versa. This for sure will solve your problem once and for all. You cannot tell the PC to burn a CD project onto a DVD it WILL EJECT THE DVD. CD projects are burned to CD and DVD projects to DVD.
Good luck and good day Sir (or Maam as the case may be)...lol.

First off, do you actually have a DVD burner in your machine, or did you just assume that you do? a CD burner is not a DVD burner.
And just because it may play DVD's doesn't mean it can burn DVDs.
If you are certain that you actually have a DVD burner, then make sure you know what types of disks it can use. there is a difference between +R and -R. Not all burners.players and read/write to both.

You need a DVD burner. You are apparently trying to burn a DVD in a CD burner.

I'm seriously confused here...you write a very good question - legible, detailed, properly composed...but you don't know the correct way to use 'too' and/or 'to'?
You may have to (not 'too') check and see if your DVD's and your drive are compatible...i.e. +R or -R - most burners anymore are dual-format.
I'm not a fan of Roxio, so I can't say much about it.
Too (see?) bad you didn't include details about what you're trying to burn...

Nope regrettably :(... i've got tried many circumstances too ha ha. you are able to regardless of the undeniable fact that burn different codecs of video. attempt a software like nero and it provides you with the choice to burn quite a few categories of video clips. those video clips will play in maximum dvd gamers they only wont be in a dvd format. particularly cool once you utilize domicile windows action picture maker and make your guy or woman video clips :)
