I don't know about all meds or drug companies, but I know that the majority of opium poppies with a strong thebaine content (what is synthesized into oxycodone and hydrocodone) are grown in Australia, near Tazmania. The growers harvest the poppies and extract the thebaine according to the drug companies' orders and send it to them to be synthesized and manufactured into the pills.

Mostly from private poppy farmers from Turkey who deal with DEA from USA. Personally its all corrupt.

1st not all pain medications have opium in them. They make most of what they sell, so they manufacture it themselves.
