Most birds tend not to think seriously about breeding unless you give them a wooden nestbox, although there are always exceptions to the rule. Right now, even if they are mating she myay or may not lay eggs and even if she does they might not incubate them or anything because they don't necessarily really want any chicks. The guy may be flirting just because he can and right now it sounds like she's rejecting him.

As for your female being puffed out or fat looking, she may be getting ready to lay an egg but she could also just be a little cold, getting ready to preen herself, annoyed or tired.

When male zebras mate..it takes 1 second to "mate". You wont be able to tell anything until she lays eggs and see if they hatch about 2 weeks later.

birds lay eggs. The male is trying to mate, which will impregnate the eggs she will then lay. Unless a suitable nesting box is present, the eggs will not hatch.

Yup. Birds lay eggs. Look around her cage and see if you can find any eggs. If there are eggs in the cage they are mostly likely gonna hatch...Just wait a little bit and they will...

I don't know what on Earth it's trying to do, bearing in mind that birds lay EGGS.

As for the 'fat' female.....haven't you seen the activia yoghurt adverts? She could be bloated....try the 14 day trila.

^^
