Evan,,,do you just have a list of questions you are putting in one after the other?
My rules of thumb is that its cursing (which is a sin) when you use God or Jesus name or another Holy name as part of the curse.

The passage that talks about swearing says that this type of behavior is not consistent with people who claim to be children of the Holy God of Heaven. In other words, someone who goes around using language that most people would associate with being "swear words" and not the type of words to be used in polite company isn't showing the rest of the world that they are true sons or daughters of God.
It isn't the words themselves that are sinful. A lecturer could use the "F" word in a teaching situation because he or she would be saying that word to clarify what they were specifically referring to. But a person who goes around using foul language as a matter of course is in effect saying that they are representatives of the crude and vulgar segments of society and not of the Holy God of Heaven.
Colossians 3:8 But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
Ephesians 5:4 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.

It becomes a sin as soon as the words leave your lips. There are all sorts of passages in the Bible about controlling the words that come out of your mouth. Which leads one to understand that swearing is just a small part of the sin that comes out of the mouth. James said:
"If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain."
James 1:26

The Bible says that we are not supposed to curse or swear, it is a sin because if you swear of promise by something you might break it so therefore we are told not to swear byanything no matter what, especially God, or a stack of Bibles.

Any kind of use of foul language is offensive to God. Swearing should be defined as it can mean different things to different people. It can mean either the taking of an oath, or calling God to be your witness that something is true as in a courtroom, or it can mean using foul language. Using the language abases or puts you at a lower standing as well as God. Do you want to be thought of as so ignorant that you cannot use better language? It is really losing control of yourself and that is sin. It is selfish and saying to the world, "you hurt me and I am not smart enough to know anything of higher value to say about it." It hurts your image and you are to be the image of God so it hurts Him also. Don't let Satan get the control but let God have it and you will not use it.

Ephesians 4:29 tells us, "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." 1 Peter 3:10, "For, Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech." James 3:9-12 "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.

The sin isn't certainly the be conscious, placed the belief in the back of it. words placed across what's in our hearts. They keyboard purely supplies a different medium with the exception of talking. Too many human beings fixate on certainly "swearing" quite of attending to the basis of the difficulty and adjusting their heart strategies-set. they're going to smugly and self-righteously proclaim that they do no longer swear, mutually as looking down on people who nevertheless use such language. in maximum situations, swearing is the demonstrative results of improperly dealt with frustration, rigidity, anger, bruised delight , etc. With extremely some artwork, you are able to desire to * provide up * saying the words, yet has your heart strategies-set relatively replaced?

Matthew 5:34-37
34 But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God,
35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
36 And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.
37 Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil.
James 5:12
But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.

Yes, it tells us in the Bible even thinking it is sinning. I am not immune and neither is anyone else. Prayer is our direct line to Heaven and forgiveness.

In my opinion, only using his name in vain would be offensive to him. I don't see why saying "sh*t" would offend God. There's no difference from calling someone a jerk or a d*ck..they're both insults, society just claims that one is worse then the other.
