It is what the dress looks like, like is it low cut, way short, or of a material more for evening, like brocade, or something shiney or filmy.
It is also what you wear it with. Chandelier earrings, stiletto heels, diamonds, are all for evening.
A red sundress of poly-cotton would be fine. something nautical with red in it is fine. I see where those long collared t-shirt dresses, worn with a belt are back in, that is fine in red.
As long as the dress is designed for afternoon wear, it is fine.
I wear red in the afternoon, and I am ultra conservative with my clothes.

yes itz perfectly ok to me!!!!!!! and no itz not slutty unless you have on strap 3inch heels and the dress is more like a long shirt and itz very low cut and u have a verrrrrrrrrryyyyyy expensive neclace & earing set on!!!!!.....otherwise ur perfectally fine wit wearing it

of course you can!! color has nothing to do with it, it is the style that would make it slutty.
red is a power color, screams out "I am confident".
