Bound's hubby here:
While the Browning BPS has the Browning reputation behind it, it has not been around as long as the Remington 870 Wingmaster, or manufactured in as great a number! Also, I do not like the concept of bottom feed and bottom eject, it is too reminiscent of jams in the older Ithaca 37, the same design as the BPS.
For my money, I would go with the Remington 870 Wingmaster, but not the 870 Express!
Good luck!

i am going to agree with the crowd 870 is a better shotgun the BPS simply carries the Browing name. It is not the FN Belgium quality, matter of fact i think it is made in Japan. That is not necessarily bad but tack 150 bucks on it for the name Browning is all. I have 2 of the 870 and 1 of the BPS and while each is specialized the 870 is more rugged and reliable and easier to dismantle and fix if a problem arises. However the BPS has a function i like in that it is bottom eject. if you are a reloaded this is really cool the spents will be at your feet. I have the upland model BPS in 22" a wingmaster in 20 and a SPecial purpose 870 express in camoed 12.

I used an 870 for years and my Dad uses the BPS when we duck hunt. The 870 is the chevy work truck of shot guns. Does the job and not a lot of extras. The BPS is a nice gun and I dont believe that my Dad has ever had any problems with it. It will cost you a bit more. If cash is an issue, then the 870 would be my pick.
Good luck and happy shooting.

870 is more durable and is cheaper. The BPS is a good shotgun but will not handle abuse like duck hunting in the Miss delta as good as the 870. Both are excellent shotguns.
