I have two cats, one over weight, one under. The over weight one steals the others food. We have tried putting the stealer in another room ,to feed the thinner one, but the problem is she steals the leftovers of the other. The thinner one is a nibbler , the other, well, you get the picture!! Any suggestions?

There's no one answer.

But....dry food is TONS higher in carbs than canned food. Dry food (most varieties) contain little or no meat. They have meat byproducts, meal and mostly consist of various grains.

As you probably know, grains are considered carbs, and meat is protein.

Cats are obligate carnivores which basically means that they are meat eaters who can tolerate little or no carbs in their diet.

By feeding dry, you are basically turning them into vegetarians forced to eat food their digestive systems cannot process adequately.

Which in turns means you may end up with a fatty. I know - I did the same thing.

I spent two years trying to figure out how to feed Sophie the Nibbler while keeping Poppy the Wolf at bay. You wouldn't believe some of the things I tried!

I've since switched them over to canned food only. Poppy is now able to eat enough to keep her satisfied and she is losing weight.

Assuming the two foods are the same brand they may be quite close in calories. Otherwise you'll have to measure and read the labels for calorie content.

To keep the "fat cat" from stealing the leftovers, make sure there are no leftovers from either cats meals. Once that is accomplished by feeding set amounts once or twice a day, you can move on to two different types of foods. As an example, give the "fat cat" less food and the thin cat kitten food.

It worked for our cats

Wet food has more calories than dry, If you live in the UK, try OLLI cat food it is organic and great for cats health, this was recommended to me by my vets and all the supermarkets stock it. My cat has returned to a good healthy weight since eating it and all my cats love it

look at the ingredients listed on the tin/packet, wet food has 80% moisture, (posh word for water), you are paying for water with wet food. Feed dry food, you can always soak it if they prefere it wet!! Cats will only eat when hungry, some like to snack all day, unless you keep them seperate its gonna be difficult.
