I have checked my credit report and it has no record of any aplications for credit and ony one item of bad credit...unpaid phone bill wich is now paid off.
Aparantly this is because I dont reach the cut off point on credit scoring.
Any idea's on what i can do to fix this?

The main reason i want it is for just in case scenarios....you know if the wind blows the tiles of my roof i can pay for it on the credit card then get my insurance to reimberse me if neccesary.....it often takes a while for insurance companys to sort out the payments for repairs...Pretty much all my money goes out each month and i dont have enough left to save for emergancys
I have the Visa prepay card, i didnt think that would affect my credit as its not a credit card...

if vanquis and cap one are refusing you, you must be having/had diffculties and getting more debt is not the way to go. poor credit rating credit cards are also gonna charge you a whopping interest rate.
do not get one plus constant applying will lower your score more
you could try getting a pre pay credit card which will build your rating if you use regular
if its not too personal post why you need the card and see if we can help you find other answers

Sounds like you're fairly young in age [suspect unpaid phone was a cell phone]. Are you working? If you are start by going to say WalMart and apply for a credit card. BE SURE TO PAY IT OFF IN FULL EVERY MONTH FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS.
That will start to establish a credit profile. Perhaps a credit card from the company were you buy most of the gasoline for your driving. Again be sure and pay more than the minimum due each and every month. You'll be surprised at what will start showing up in the mail soon thereafter. But be very careful not to get carried away and go over your head and end up in a worse situation.

Bad credit credit cards have been developed for people with poor credit and want to improve their credit rating. There are two types of credit cards: secured and unsecured credit cards. You have to choose between these two, based on various factors with the stable income being the crucial one.
A secured credit card is obtained after making a deposit to the card company. You get the card with lower limit than the money you have deposited. An unsecured credit card does not need you to give any deposit. But the catch is that the bank may charge either higher interest or fees if you have bad credit. Hence find out the terms and condition before taking these types of cards.

Generally speaking, any department store credit card will be a good start. However, they do not have the best interest rates (above 20%). What you do is get one, charge very little or next to nothing and pay it off each month ($40 items will work). It'll take up to 6 months before it will get recorded with the credit bureau. It takes awhile to build up credit. It's probably a blessing, so many people get in so much trouble with credit. Be wise.

If you are in the UK try Capital One or Vanquis, they will give cards to pretty much anyone but the interest rates will be scarily high - run one of those for a year or so and let lenders see that you're responsible with credit and you'll see a difference.

I've no idea how you would "fix" this problem, but perhaps you should contact the credit referencing agencies to see if this can be done.
Vanquis, Acqa and Capital One are the prime lenders to people with a low credit rating. If you've been refused by them, then perhaps you might consider a pay-as-you-go credit card, like Titanium Plus.

Are you uk ??? If you have a bank account, then your banks own credit card will be your best bet. That will also score you points on your credit. Or try Egg or Mint. Hope this helps.....Good luck.

I do not have a credit card, and like to keep it that way. Do not get one, the best thing to do to improve you credit score is, if possible, attach your name to someone elses card.
I always say, if you cannot afford it for cash, they you can't afford it. I have two exceptions cars and houses. Although I have not taken a loan out on my cars in the last 7 years.

try Bank of America. apparently you don't even need a Social Security number to get a credit card from them!

Try Capital one, they specialise in this sort of thing. They will probably only give you a £200.00 limit but you can build up your credit score that way.
Good luck
