Apparently some folks think so. I asked a question about you and all I get is "we have seen that too much". I just want to understand other folks. Is that bad?

No, in fact we need more of you. Look past al lthe Trolls you see on both sides around here and the biggest reason Atheists open up debates and conversations to religios people are either to defend tehir choice from attack, or to get everybody, of all faiths and none to be open-minded. There should be nothing wrong with questioning anyone's personal beleifs, including your own. We aren't pushing for you to change your mind, just understand what others think aobut the issue. If you can see al this and still have the same beliefs and oppinions then you have come to them responsibly and as an intelligent human being, and hopefully all parties involved will respect that.

its not bad at all, but you need to understand that as atheists we get very frustrated by these conversations. Its mostly because we speak different languages. It kind of like the book men are from mars women are from venus, the communication just breaks down because the two groups are speaking such different ways. I'm not just being stubborn or arguing, but in all honesty we'll probably never understand each other. Still it does make you a more informed person for thirsting for knowledge and understanding :o)

I don't think it's bad at all to try and understand any of our fellow human beings. There are those who, through fear or insecurity, would prefer not to engage with people who believe things other than they do, but I think those folks are shortchanging themselves.

Keep reaching, keep learning, keep understanding.

If you are trying to be self-improving that is a good thing as long as it is not against God and the Bible. Ask yourself is this something I would be doing or asking if Jesus/God were sitting here with me. If you can answer yes without any additional explanation, OK. If you try to reason it out, you shouldn't be do ing it!! I try and be understanding of people and prefer not to open doors that are closed to me and I know they are really bad. I think if I open the door satan has a permanent invitation and it will be a constant conflict for me. That is just my opinion and way of keeping my faith strong, other than prayer.

You were unlucky. You asked a question that's been asked a lot before at precisely the time that people were talking about how often it had been asked before. Actually, your question was way more respectful than the usual form of that question, in which it is implied that we should NOT be here.

The answer to your question is no, it is not bad. I like it when people go to the trouble to understand me. That breaks down barriers and aids friendship. Peace to you.

No, it isn't bad and had you been an Atheists asking a question about religion that has been asked before those same people would have embraced you.

It's not bad to try to understand. Frustration arises when we see the same question 4 times daily.

One part of understanding atheists, though, is this: Atheists are an oppressed, disrepected and ridiculed minority, and we get tired of it.

It's never bad to try and understand your fellow humans as a whole instead of just one distinct group of people.

Of course not - but open minds are distinctly discomforting to most Christians.

Have you noticed that it is only Christians that are preoccupied with atheists? Why do you think that is?

It may help your search for the truth to try and answer that question first!

I thought you asked a legitimate and respectful question. I am glad that you are interested in understanding other religious groups (if you call us that).
