If it was, a lot of people would go absolutely crazy. They need those beliefs, those beliefs are giving them something that they are not finding here on Earth, because they aren't looking for it here. They want and need love, compassion, tolerance, acceptance, protection, security, comfort, a sense of purpose, all those things that human beings need, but they're looking up for them instead of around. If you pulled that away from them, a lot of them would not be able to handle it, because there is nothing real providing them with what they're getting from their faith. Until they realize that they aren't really getting what they need from their gods, they won't give them up.
No. The solution isn't elimination of religion, it's loving other people. Real love, from real people, knowledge, and striving for personal fulfillment would edge religious faith right out.

For a theocracy to take place, would be going against the grain of the written word. For that to take place the people must be willing, and the kingdom must be in accordance with a holy, governing presense. Sorry but that question is not a well thought one. BOTH are by choice. To even compare these two is ridiculous.

No, but tolerance is only a plausible answer if it's practiced. Christianity and Islam refuse on a huge scale to practice tolerance because the way that the majority of their followers believe the religions to be prohibits it.
Perhaps tolerance should be forced, but no religion should be outlawed or else the faction which does so is no more sophisticated or evolved than the religion which antagonizes it.

hell no!!
people have the right to choose. isnt that the foundation of america? freedom?
there has never been a time when everyone had gotten along and there never will be. wiping out those 2 religions wouldnt solve anything. there will just be more religions that have conflicts. will you wipe them out too?
we might as well kill everyone to solve the problem. then what will we have?

Two things:
1. Separation of Church and State
2. Freedom of Religion
America was based (among other things) on these religious basis. Something should be done regarding the radical groups in the Middle East, but to do so in America violates its peoples' rights.

They will both die a natural death in a few hundred years as humans continue to evolve past the caveman mentality of needing a religion as a crutch. Many of us have evolved past that, it will be great when religions are just minor sects practiced in remote areas of the world.

Christianity will never be wiped out of America so perhaps you would like to call Sean Penn and move to a place that suits your lack of belief better

No, and I think Godless said it best.
Trying to eliminate religion by force would not solve any problems.
It's all about LOVE. Love and accept your fellow human beings.
Help them ease the fear that drives controlling religions - help them feel loved and accepted.
I know that it is hard because their fear causes them to want to control everyone.
But just keep sending love, and we can turn things around.

you think america is becoming more religious? Where do you live? Remove christianity from the history of the world and you'd probably doing manual labor somewhere and not know how to read, do basic medicine, or you'd be someone's slave. The freedom you have to say what you are saying comes form christianity.

Rather than be wiped out, would it not be better to start teaching everyone tolerance and understanding?
For all of us to learn about the different religions, faiths, beliefs and lifestyles, to stop the hatred and begin afresh. Some will say its too late, others may think it is not - I hope that eventually we will all live in peace. But as long as there are fanatics and zealots from all political and religious factions out there, who continue to breed the culture of fear, then we are all doomed!!
