Ask your Dad if its okay if you get a small pet-something caged like a hamster, gerbil or rat. By the way domestic rats are the best rodent pet -they are intelligent and I have never been bitten by one and I have handled a lot.

Be responsible in feeding and watering that pet and keeping the cage clean. That may help him decide that you are responsible enough to care for dog or cat. However remember that dogs and cats are not rodent pets-dogs require walks at least daily. Not to mention that dogs and cats require yearly vaccinations, spaying and neutering, heartworm prevention (dogs), daily food and not to mention an unplanned health crisis.
All of which can get very costly, you must be able to pitch in financially to help defray those costs.

This is a huge responsibility so you are going to live with your father your whole life.Going to collage so he's suck with the pet.Moving to a place that allows pets is harder to find. That not just you he's thinking about it's the pet also get a beta.Wait till your stable and on you're own and your about 25 years old the pet doesn't understand why your out until five am.Your not old enough to have one in your dads eyes man that says alot. You parents are alot more experienced than you think.

Perhaps you could work over the weekends at an animal shelter. This is an easy way to be exposed to a lot of animals and to learn whether or not you are ready to be an owner. I have a very gentle, mild-mannered pitbull who is crate-trained and house broken, but I still feel like I am the parent of a toddler. It is a lot of work! Make sure you are ready.
Another thought, get your dad's reasons for why he doesn't want any animals. He might be allergic to animal dander and has just never told you. Good luck!

Tell him how you plan on paying for the vet care for the animal and how you plan on taking care of the pet, feeding, getting to the doctors when needed.....perhaps your Dad can't afford the extra expense of a pet? If you work , then you'll have to kick in money toward the pet.

If you're young, guess you'll just have to wait until you're older and out on your own. Then you can do what you want.

Most parents won't allow you to get pets for they will end up caring for it and it can be expensive. So the best way to convince your dad that you want one is to show him you will be totally responsible for that pet. Which means to go out and get a job even if it is babysitting.
Let him know that you will pay for everything and feed and water it daily. Doing that he will be so proud that he will probably take you to the shelter to pick one out.

It would be wise not to get one if your dad refuses.

There are a lot of responsiblities in taking care of a pet. There are costs involved, your time and love.

Maybe your dad can not afford it, or he knows you don't have time for a pet.

You should say:

I have wanted a pet for a while, and I decided a goodway to show how responsible I am. I will raise enough money for me to buy and tank, accesories, food, filter, filter pads, and 3 goldfish. If I keep the goldfish alive for 2 months, then I can get a bunny or hamster. Then if I am able to keep the bunny/hamster alive for 6 months then you have to get me a dog/cat.

You try to show your father the dog show of your city. And also make him to watch the movies in which dogs are the performers. Promise him that the dog will not create any nuisance to him. If he is loving you, he will definitely allow you to keep your pet. Best of luck.

1. check if anyone in your family is allergic to animals
2. check to see if you have enough money
3. make sure that you prove that your responsible(make sure your room is clean, cook dinner, and make sure nothing is broken of which you own)
4. create a slide show on your computer, and show it to your parents. also, make sure you include why you want a dog, and how you will take care of one, if you get one
5. if they say no, just sulk, and not show a happy expression, it will make them feel guilty, and eventually they WILL buy you one.

^^thats what i did, and it worked

GOOD LUCK!=D
