Relax my friend you will be fine, the dentist will make sure you are completely numb and will gently probe the surrounding gum area to ensure this is the case before he/she starts the treatment
If upon probing you still dont feel numb enough, let the dentist know and he/she will give you another injection.
Once your numb they can begin, you should not feel anything by this time, the instruments they use are called Forceps, and these will be used to gently wiggle the tooth from side to side, if the tooth is a little bit stubborn and wont play ball they use Elevators, these help to elevate the tooth from the socket, and once elevated the dentist will be able to remove it with the forceps.
I have had teeth removed and assist my dentist on a daily basis, so i can say hand on heart you really do have nothing to worry about.
Once the procedure is done, take some normal pain killers if you feel any discomfort, but avoid Aspirins and these thin the blood and will encourage the socket to bleed.
Hope i have been of some help, good luck my friend you'll be fine!.

Having a tooth out is not painful at all, if it is done correctly. The worse part of any procedure is the injection (and this a sharp scratch - normally two injections per tooth) after this you will feel lots of pushing, clicking and cracking noises but nothing painful. If you do feel anything painful you should tell the dentist who would be able to numb you up more. An average simple tooth takes about 30 seconds to remove, but more difficults ones can take 20 minutes (wisdom teeth). But it is never as bad as you think it is. Good luck.

I had a tooth out this morning. I was numbed up and felt no pain whatsoever. It is a bit achey now but the anti-inflammatory tablets I take are helping.
Soft food today and back to normal tomorrow.
Remember don't rinse out your mouth too much on the day of the extraction so that a clot can form in the cavity, wait until the day after and then use a salt water mouthwash or an antiseptic one available from the chemists.

I just had mine taken out on the 9th of this month. It is not too bad. Yeah, you are sore and its a bit painful, but they give you medicine to help with that. My doc gave me an anxiety pill to take an hour before my appt and also some pain medicine. Then when I got to my appointment they gave me a shot in my mouth to numb it and also used some laughing gas. I've never had this kind of thing done before, but it was so much easier than I thought it was going to be. Make sure you have lots of liquids to drink and also, jello helped my pain go away later that night after I got the tooth pulled.

Nope, the Novocain they put in hurts a bit to begin with, but no, its unreal, you hear and feel it being moved, but the nerves will be deadened. BUT.............I suggest when you get home, you take a couple of pain killers, and take yourself off to bed and sleep till the next day. You should by pass the pain that you may get when the numbness wears off.
Also prepare yourself to drink soups and oxo with bread, which makes a good meal for a day or two till the soreness subsides. Oxo is particularly good, because it seems to be salty, and that helps the healing.
Well that's my advice, via life's experience. Good luck, don't worry things could be a whole lot worse, you could be going for open heart surgery, or something much worse then having a tooth removed. xxx

Ask your dentist to give you some pre-medication which you can use both on the previous day and on the day of surgery. This will help reduce the anxiety.
They will numb you up real good so you don't feel a thing. If done well, you'll only have minor discomfort after. Don't worry.

You will be numbed and they will just plain pull the tooth. To offer some support ..............my son just had TWO teeth pulled in January around 10:20 AM and by noon he was out to lunch with me eating a chicken tenders meal at a fast food restaurant.

You will be numbed up with a local injection first then the tooth will be pulled very quickly indeed with little discomfort at all. Once you are numb the extraction is over in a flash.. dont panic its not that bad at all. :)
