It varies some w/ the persons age, heath, lifestyle but everyone should get at LEAST 7 hours of sleep at night (8-9 would be ideal).

its not always the amount of time yet how you sleep for example they ie doctors reccomend 8 hours a night to be well rested yet if you are getting 8 hours on a bad mattress you may actually only be getting the rest of 4 hours good luck

They say 8hrs, but i really don't think you need that much. I get head-ache if i sleep more than 6hrs. I say you should go to bed in a decent time and get up in the morning not feeling tired that is all it matters, it has nothing to do with the number of hours you sleep. It is just like the 8 glass of water, i mean good god who can drink that much water that is sick. Any how take care of yourself!

most studies say between 8 to 9 hrs. When you sleep over or under your body is trying to fight off the fatigue and then can not focus when it needs to.

Actually it depends on your age but on the average for our age 7 hors a night
