I hired a water birthing pool for the homebirth of my 3rd baby.
As soon as I got into the pool the relief I felt was unbeleivable, I had all the pain in my back, so the heat and the ability to move freely made everything a lot more comfortable. I was only in the pool for about half an hour and my first son was born, I actually birthed him myself and lifted him to the surface, he didn't cry, just had a look around him, taking in the faces of his mum and dad and 2 older sisters, it was the most magical moment.
I would encourage every woman to try it, it's not for everyone, but it made such a difference to my whole labour experience I ordered another pool when we were expecting number 4, unfortunately he arrived before the pool did, but I will always remember my water birth with a tremendous amount of fondness.

I'm 39 weeks and awaiting my day in the birthing pool. My Midwife is a very natural and mellow person with the capability to handle emergency situations if they occur. I had my first child in a hospital setting with a typical doctor, and it was horrible. No need to re-illusrate. Now I'm pregnant with my second and I've done my research on birth in water in a birthing center setting, and let me tell you it sounds wonderful. The warm water elevates the body causing a sense of weightlessness. It helps ease the intensity of the contractions by loosening up the muscles. Best of all, my fiance will be able to catch our baby once he enters the water. Definitely consider the option. Contact a local Birthing Center and get a tour. Ask if the have a birthing tub available first. Good luck and congratulations!

I had my 3rd baby at a birthing center. I got out of the bath right before delivery because my husband wanted to deliver the baby. If I had known how much easier labor was in a bath, I would have did it every time. The ONLY reason I got out of the tub was so my husband could deliver the baby. I think it is great and would recommend it.

Our hospital had 5 whirlpools. I did water birth, but iam left of center, so the angle that I was sitting in the tub wasnt working, I had to opt out for a stool to get the baby to clear my pelvis.
Its EXCELLENT, the water is so warm, and it feels SOOOO good. Its better for the baby. I didnt actually give birth in the water, but I did just about all my pushing in the tub. Its WELL worth it.
So are birthing stools, the amish ones. Theyre excellent.

I truthfully have a water infant, she is 8 months old and it became right into a super adventure, i did no longer plan for a water start, my start plan became into thoroughly open, I stated the midwives that i does no longer prefer something yet ought to doubtlessly prefer each drug accessible!! on the top I had no drugs and as I mentioned a water start. As a tip for water start: wait, only wait till you're only approximately waiting to push. in case you bypass into the water too early maximum in all probability you're able to get out in the past delivery. once I have been given into the water it help me loosen up lots, my husband stored pouring water over my lower back and my shoulders, which helped conserving me heat and comfortable. I additionally did no longer prefer any stitches. I intend to do it lower back next time I truthfully have a infant. sturdy success!

Watch House of Babies on Discovery Health. They do LOTS of water births.
It doesn't appeal to me. I hate being dirty, and the thought of sitting in the tub with all that stuff swimming around me . . . well, let's just say it doesn't give me warm fuzzies.
