If they did a good job, they get a tip. In my opinion, a tip is an additional way of saying thank you and letting them know you appreciate what they've done for you. The tip is dependant on my level of satisfaction.
We've been brainwashed by society to believe we MUST tip.
Why tip if the service rendered was not to your satisfaction? At the end of the day, they are still getting paid!

Only if you are happy with the hairstyle. Although the more time a stylist has to get familiar with your hair the better it will be cut. Don't expect the perfect "do" the first time. Give explicit directions so it is done the way you want it. But I generally tip about 5 bucks on a 20$$ haircut.

Personally, I rarely tip anybody, I live in Spain, it's only tourists that tip over here. But as a general principle I was always taught if you are going to tip around 10% of the bill is appropriate.

I used to but because my barber was like 5 a pop it was getting to where I couldn't get in to see her. There were so many kids running around and I though giving her 10 to 15 would assure me a front row seat. It never happend. I now just go to a 15 and call it a day.

Absolutely tip them. It should be like an other tip, based off a percentage. I normally tip hairdressers or spa employees at least 20%

you should always tip your barber/hairdresser! i think that the apporriate tip for them is to give them a $10 tip because they are making your hair that you want it and it would be very politie to leave them a tip!

I do not tip my barber. He has a fixed rate for the service he is rendering. It sounds like charity to me. do you tip the bus driver?

I do if I get a great cut. The amt depends on how long I have to wait, stuff like that.
The guy I go to now sees me coming and brushes off his chair...I love it! Usually takes me right in, he will get around 20% because he knows what I want, does an awesome job and gives a great shampoo.
