God created all beings, angels and souls. Satan was God's right had man so to speak. He was the worship leader in Heaven. Satan became jealous of God because all the angels were worshiping God and singing Holy, Holy, Holy! Can you imagine how angry you would be if you were vice president and the president gave you the boot! So Satan decides to cause a rebellion in Heaven. And convinces 1/3 of God's angels to follow him. They become fallen angels and do the bidding of Satan. Satan is thrown out of Heaven never to return to the Holy of Holies, and loses the best job anyone one the universe could have. What a bummer! Now there is evil in the world because of Satan and his helpers because he is cast down to Earth. People wonder why the Earth is such a mess. Satan is actually the Prince of Earth until Jesus comes and rules as Prince of Peace for 1000 years. His negative and dark energy and spirit influences all who fall prey to his power. Believers are only on Earth because of God's divine protection, his angels. Sorry no bible verses, God created Lucifer, angel of Light. But evil was brought into the world through Satan.

God created Satan just like he created everything. But he created Satan with the free will just like he gave us and the angels. But God didn't create evil. Evil is the absence of Good, just as darkness is the absence of light.

Good question. If god created satan and satan is evil then god is evil. Evil will exist as along as god exists. If you take that literally there is biblical evidence in that he's tried multiple times to rid the world of evil but it is ever present in his creation. Symbolically there will always be evil acts carried out in religions name.

Hi 6000,

There is a natural law of opposition in all things, counter forces if you will. As such it would seem to me that Satan does not have a monopoly on "evil" regardless of the definition of such.

Evil defined from my perspective is any force or action that would entice one to act in behalf or accept as truth something that is false.

Satan (Lucifer), chose to embody this effort when he rebelled. He make it his stated goal to thwart God's plan of happiness for us (our effort to progress to become like our Father in Heaven).
In doing so under the guise of the ruler of this earth (a falsehood from the outset) Satan has become, to believers, the catch all for evil (the opposition to truth).

Natural law would suggest that Satan could not be the only source of evil (opposition to truth) but as an instigator with relative purpose to us, he is a player with significant importance.

Yup.

Isaiah 45:7 (King James Version)

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Evil is simply the absence of good, so I suppose that it would, in the same way that "dark" exists. The real question is, would anyone still do it? I don't know.

Free will would still exist. Man's use of that God given choice was his demise...not to exclude the evil one from accountability, man is ultimately to blame for his own situation.

Yes, Satan didn't create evil, he succumbed to it. Evil comes from our inclination to sin. We have a choice to sin or not, to do good or evil.

God didn't create evil........
Evil is the absence of good...not the opposite of it.
Satan (lucifer) turned away from God because of his own pride and lust to be equal with God.
