Because people stopped believing in God and instead chose to manipulate Him so they could fit religion into their lives instead of making their lives fit God

When man tried to create " The Creator" in man's own image. No human can understand its creator completely, only the parts we know to be true for ourselves in our personal relationship with that creator. We think we know our parents but in truth our knowledge is very limited even about our own selves. So how could we possibly understand everything about our Creator. We can only seek and find as much as we can, believe in what we believe is best for ourselves and know that those beliefs will effect others as well. We will know everything when it is time to.

People like to promote their own beliefs, break away from other churches and start their own, and in general, think that they are the only ones who are right. Then, they have to preach their version of what is right -- no wonder people get so confused.

it got messed up some where along when people started brain washing others and shoving religon down their throats and if u dont believe in god you are though tof as an out cast amoung society
