Unbelievable!
What some of you guys think cannot fly.
Flamingos fly extremely well.
Galliformes: wild fowl ("chickens") and peacocks all fly in short sprints.
Most domestic fowl are breed with breasts that are so heavy they cannot fly.
Here are some links to birds taking to air just fine, including wild turkey, flamingo, peacock
Also a links to those that don't fly.

Aside from the many birds of new zealand that cannot fly there is also the Ratites (birds which don't have a keel on their sternum) cassowary, ostrich, emu, rhea, along with the penguin which can only 'fly' underwater and many domestic birds that have been bred to be so large that flight is now only a dream.
Many other birds have become extinct including the Moa ( a giant species similar to the ostrich) and dodo.
Also, as someone cleverly pointed out, dead birds also don't fly.

Well several bird species can't fly because some evolved in a place where there were no predators (like the Dodo on Mauritius - now extinct). Some gave it up in order to do something else (like swimming penguins) or they became too large to fly (like the ostriches).
In New Zealand, which was totally devoid of predators until man and his pets came along, the Kea (the largest and one of the rarest parrot) and tha Takahe gave up flight. There's also the Kiwi and the now extinct Moa.
You've got the large birds like the ostrich, the emu, cassowary and rhea (who all point to a time when the Earth's continents were all joined) which got too heavy to fly and decided to run instead..
And of course there are the penguins and cormorants (some of whom can't fly anymore) who gave up flight feathers in order to fly underwater.
Peacocks, Wild turkeys and chickens can actually fly suprisingly well. In fact in Asia, peacocks roost high up in the trees at night.
Most domestic fowl like chickens and ducks are now too heavy to fly..
Then there's Big Bird from Sesame Street but he's a different story altogether..

If you mean what kind of bird, there's about 30 or 40 species living today all over the world. The most commonly known ones are the ostrich, emu, kiwi and penguin - but there are also some famous ones that are now sadly extinct, like the Great Auk and Dodo.

Well, penguins cannot fly because their flippers are made for swimming.Besides, why would they need to fly when they eat fish?
Also, flamingos and ostriches are to dense to fly while chickens and roosters are slighty too heavy so they can only glide a few feet.
