Thank you all for the answers so far!

I am in a long term relatinship and I love and want to be with him and he does me. We have a daughter and I want to get married and he wants to wait a little longer. I dont want to wait anymore so I guess I want to let go because I want more.

People do it everyday! Look at the divorce rate. The divorce rate at the military base is nearly 80%. I think it is nearly that in the civilian sector. I bet most of those people never imagined that they would end up without the person that walked down the isle with and said "I do". That commitment is supposed to be forever, not a short term contract agreement. So, is this breakup your choice? Is there ways to work through the conflicts and find solutions that have not been attempted? If there is any possible way to remain together and work through problems then you should attempt to do that. It is very , very , very hard to find a loving partner as you get older. It gets harder the older you get. You can find temporary relationships that are simply physical and not emotionally fulfilling, but finding TRUE LOVE is not at all easy. Finding a lustful relationship is quite easy. I have been married and divorced twice. I have been alone for 9 years and while I have had some really great long term relationships I have yet to find someone that wants to settle down and make a commitment that is lasting and true. I just advise you to not end something hastily and not to walk away without being sure you have done the right things so that you do not look back with regrets. Good luck.

I've never believed in the 'fate' aspects some do - i.e. "supposed to be with forever". That said, there have been people who would qualify for that if I did. My last gf was someone I'd have killed or died for. If I thought I could get her back without the pain she was willing to inflict, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Still there comes a time when you realize the pain is much too intense to tolerate and that it's not going to get better. That's the time to leave.

technically if you were supposed to be with that person your whole life then why do you wanna break up now??

but aniway if you really wanna do it then you can do anything except not being firm. MOST guys ( hey no offence here ) wouldnt get the message until you are firm. if it comes to the worst then just attack his weak points etc. the rationale here is the word MEAN

First off, why would you break up with someone you know you're supposed to be with forever?

More information is needed here. Do you love this person? Parent pressure? What?

More info, please!

if your intuition is telling u one thing and u want to go against it, maybe u need to look more closely before u leave the relationship. if i felt strongly about someone i would not leave them.
