Personally I wouldn't bring a puppy into a grooming salon until it was covered by its vaccinations. Full coverage is far more likely at about 16 weeks, but at 12 weeks you may be getting another DHL Parvo shot. Also grooming salons can be a bit scary for small puppies. Of course all this depends on where you are having the puppy groomed. You can have someone come to you to groom and you can do that at any age.

Check with the groomer that you plan on using as to what their rules are. Some require more shots than others before they will allow a dog to come in.

You should be grooming with brushes at home at least every other day, just to get him use to the process. If you are trimming on your own, be sure to use a blunt tipped scissor to avoid poking him.

Good Luck

As soon as it gets all her shots, because you do not want her to get sick. Here in CA Dogs can not get groomed till all their shots are up to date. I have a little boy Shih Tzu, he was about 12 weeks old , his first time.

YES!! Have your puppy groomed professionally so it gets used to the whole process...it makes life so much easier for him as well as the groomer!

Once he's had his second set of shots.

In the meantime, start getting him used to being brushed and having his feet and face handled. The better you train him now, the easier grooming will be for him.

Start as early as possible. That way he becomes accustomed to having a bath and being combed and doesn't fight it.
