My GFs and I have the same problem...we've referred to this time of day as the, "arsenic hour," because we're just wiped out and all we want to do is eat mindlessly and drink wine. Here are some things that work for me:

-Get some exercise in before dinner and raise the endophins.
-Eat less starch and sugar at mealtime. Go for protiens and veggies instead.
-Don't drink alcohol.
-Make sure that you're getting at least 8 hours of sleep a day.
-Don't eat dinner late in the evening. Move up the dinner hour, if possible.
-Don't try to compensate by drinking coffee after dinner. It will really screw up your sleeping patterns.
-You might want to have a blood test done to see if you possibly have diabetes. I'm certainly not a doctor, but I do know that sleepyness after eating is a symptom of that disease.

Sweet dreams!

Eat less for supper. The more you eat during supper, esp starchy food, the more you feel sleepy. If you have time for light exercise after work, that is great, it can make you more energetic. Good luck

I take 8 hour time release B Complex Vitamins. I get up between 5 and 6 am so by the time I hit "the midday slump" the vitamins have kicked in and I'm feeling energized again.

Eat less and take a walk or some other activity that keeps you moving around and not just sitting still.

Exercise gets adrenaline going and will help wake you. In fact, it does that so well that most doctors will tell you not to exercise close to bedtime because it does increase your alertness.
