No, I have never heard of any culture that eats dolphin, though there is a fish called the dolphin fish, also called mahi mahi, they may put that in a tin, though the only way I have ever seen it here in the US is fresh.

You also may have seen a can of dolphin safe tuna, and just saw the word dolphin on the label

Besides with all of the animal rights groups out there I am sure they wouldn't alow anyone to eat dolphin

Well after a little research Andrew is right, not only do they eat it in china they also eat it in peru, I know the US government will not alow it, and I highly doubt the UK would either.

Tinned dolphin does exist and is in fact a delicacy in quite a few countries such as China for example. In fact some Chines eat the penis of dolphins in order to boost there sex lives.
Unfortunately you can't buy it in your local supermarket as technically selling dolphin of any sort (DEAD THAT IS) is illegal but if your were to track down a small shop that specialises in selling food to the local Chinese community then you may be able to buy some under the counter although unless your Chinese the owner may be suspicious of you and say he doesn't sell it
Oh by the way I have inadvertently eaten dolphin much to my own disgust and due to a language, communication problem and it is actually quite nice. It tastes something like a mix of tuna and salmon.
I hope this answers your question.
All the best,
Andrew D

There is no such item at your grocery store. People don't eat dolphin. They eat tuna....you may have seen a label stating "dolphin free" meaning the way they catch tuna or albacore ensures no dolphins were hurt or used. However I'm sure somewhere in the world people eat dolphin...but not from a can or tin.

If there is...it's downright cruel. If you saw it in morrisons it must have come from JAPAN because they do things like that.

I didn't think it was sold in Britain, but there are some countries who eat it.
