Bread isn't bad. It's a carbohydrate, which by definition is a large, energy-storing molecule. If you have too much energy, your body will begin to convert the 4 calorie carbohydrates into 8 calorie lipids, which are more compact storage molecules. Lipids, however, are fat. Eat bread- it's healthy. But don't eat too much unless you're planning on going on a long walk or doing some other strenuous activity.

That depends. Bread made from enriched flour, containing hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats, or with artificial sweetners or preservatives isn't going to be so good. Also, slathering a ton of margarine (which you shouldn't eat at all), butter, or jams can add excess calories and fat.

Whole grain, heart healthy bread is reasonable portions is wonderful for you. Read the ingredients list - the more things you can't pronounce, the quicker you'd better leave that loaf on the store's shelf. The more natural, minimally processed ingredients it contains, the more you should snatch it up.

We like the Pepperidge Farm whole grain breads which are endorsed by the American Heart Association. Even better are the breads you can find in the freezer section of any natural foods market or health food store. Ezekiel breads are the healthiest I have found - but it can be an acquired taste.

Ingredients both in and on top of the bread is what makes it "good" or "bad". You can choose either....Hope this helps!

Bread is good for you. Too much bread is bad for you. Often it is the stuff you put on bread that does the damage. IE too much jam, too much butter, too much dripping, too much honey. Wholemeal bread is better for you as it is roughage which aids the digestion and it's route through the alimentary canal. It releases the energy more slowly thus enabling the body to cope with the sugar it makes and therefore is suitable for diabetics. White bread can cause constipation although since the war it has been the law that it is enriched with calcium and other vitamins. Bread has been around for many thousands of years so it must have something that is good about it.

In quantity, bread is not a good thing (it's great for your tastebuds, but not for your blood sugar).

Bread is high on the glycemic index...i.e., is causes your pancreas to be overworked because it floods insulin in response to the bread (potatoes are very similar in this regard).

Whole-grain bread is much better on the glycemic index than bread that's been refined.

Bread often functions as a delivery system for meats and veggies. You might try a wrap instead, with lower-calories condiments. It can be a solid, flavorful substitute.

Whole grain, seeded, brown are all better for you than white. They give you more of the goodness of the grains, but white has been bleached and had most of the nutrients taken out.

Some people are sensitive to wheat which can cause bloating and discomfort, so then it would be bad for you.

I believe that it is not the bread (or pasta, or potato etc) that is fattening, but what and how much you put with it! Lots of oil, butter, fat of any sort is bound to be bad for you. Not the carbohydrate.

It is not bad for you. Eating too much of it, on the other hand, will raise your blood sugar and tend to make ya fat. Even white bread won't harm ya if you don't overdo it. Whole wheat bread is better for ya, but again, you can't eat the whole darn loaf at one sitting! Well, I suppose you can if you want to, but unless you wanna wind up like me - six foot tall but 300 pounds - that wouldn't be a good idea.

Bread really isnt bad for you unless you just load up on it. White bread contain carbohydrates so if you're on a low carb diet then you may wanna moderate your bread intake but wheat bread & multigrain breads are better for you in regards to fiber intake.

Too much bread is bad for you because of the carbs. You need some, to get the necessary grains in your diet; one sandwich at lunch will do the trick.

depends on what type of bread and how much you eat. Even the best diets recommend that you eat 2 slices a day. I would stick to wholemeal
