For the answerer who said that a woman should know her place. My Dad said that if a woman says she's equal to a man she's pulling herself down and he was a man's man, just held women and my mother in particular in very high regard.
I don't have a husband and my brother and brother in law would try to take over my life at their peril.
As for a Biblical standpoint (I know this is not really an answer for this question and I apologise to everyone else.), Eve was taken from Adam's side, not the sole of his foot. Woman's rightful place is to be at man's side, equal with him but with different jobs to do in life. Everything about a woman is geared towards bearing and nurturing children, from the moment we pick up a doll and cradle it. A man's job is to provide and protect, which is why they have superior physical strength and a slightly more aggressive nature. But we are equal.
Going back onto the subject, from what I've heard about Muslim households, Muslims actually realise this more than most and the woman is boss in the house.

WelL i guess this depends on how serious the women is in her religious teachings! I am a muslim women....but not taken all teachings into account, I dont cover up--yet i dont reveal either...I dont drink...yet I go to the pub....so I thinks its comprmising the everyday to activities. If I was to take on my religion full time..then I dont think that it would be much different to the way I live at the moment. I would have to wear a headscraf, not talk to men, pray 5 times a day..but ALL this would not change the person I Already am. But It is hard being a muslim women!

I don't think the role of muslim women affects their everyday lives in any way. The everyday lives of muslim women is shaped according to their role in the muslim society

As a non Muslim and male. I am looking forward to the answers from Muslim women. They are not easy to associate with to find out as they are not free to mix which ( I may be wrong) is the reason they have a limited role.

It really doesn't affect their lives at all. Most live decent, modest lives, they work, raise their families and care for their homes and husbands. They live as most women in the world, but they have different customs and practices that, to some, appear to be oppressive. In reality, covering ones head or practicing modesty does not affent their abilities to study, work and succeed.

Well it does in that she needs to make an effort to cover her body, be good to her husband, and more.
