It's going on right now. I've been hearing trains go by every 5-10 minutes. Normally I only hear 2-3 a night. Anyone have any reason why?

Leavenworth is historically an important RR junction. There is a large yard in Kansas City and a lot of coal is transported from the west through KC and north to leavenworth. Considering the winter weather, power plants may need more coal to keep up with the demand for electricity.

This is just a guess but if there is track maintnance or an accident on another line they might be rerouting traffic that way

Most likely, detours. Something went wrong on another rail line, and trains are detouring onto yours.
