I have observed that ppl really insult other religions here in Yahoo Answers and Yahoo answers team does not take any notice. Should not we force them to stop such nonsence.

Hey Home Alone!
I was just exploring Yahoo answers as one of my friend referred it to me. I read your question and then to answer it I had to become a member. Previously I never register my self anywhere. So credit of registeration here or anywhere goes to you.

Now answer to your Question:-
.......... All those people who really hate their religion ridicule others as weel.
.......... If "A" loves his home, he will not hate others' homes.
.......... If "B" loves her city, she will definitely love cities of others.
.......... Same goes for country, religion, culture etc.
I love my religion, it teaches to live with peace in the world, not to harm any one, not to kill unless your life in endangered, love every one etc.

Small minds will not bear my answer. Those ridiculous people have small minds who really ridicule other religions, beliefs, countries etc.

Yahoo answer team has nothing of this sort in community guideline that stops to redicule the religions. It is suggested that such discussions, questions and answeres should be removed and those peoples' account may be teminated.

Trust me, most of us have had accounts suspended for committing no offense whatsoever. Yahoo definitely takes notice to these and many other things. All you have to do is report someone and down they go, although the system IS basically automated.

As to why people ridicule other religions, I think it might have something to do with atheists being told they will burn in hell, being compared to satanists, being told they have no morals, and essentially having no right to the air they breathe.

The Christians are told that they're fools to believe in something they cannot see, are expected to be perfect, called hypocrites when they are not perfect, etc.

The Muslims take hits because the acts of terrorists give them all a bad name.

The wiccans are accused of practicing dark arts. The list goes on, even the peaceful Buddhists are included in this. So everyone insults each other instead of calmly trying to work things out. And you can't blame them. Even those who are level-headed and respectful get hate mail and death threats. No one is immune.

I suspect that since religions are based on a set of assumptions about an unknowable, non-verifiable entity, and that the unknowable makes people anxious, people invent stories about, and attributes of, the supreme being to give them a sense that the unknowable is known. They come to rely on these stories as absolute truths and live their lives based on the stories.

This is all very well as long as they are surrounded by people who believe the same stories, and they all reinforce their beliefs. However, when someone with another set of stories comes into contact with this group, a certain disharmony results.

Each group has come to believe that its collection of stories is the only way to relate to the supreme being and so the other group must be wrong. There are two choices posed by this situation: The first is to believe that the other group is merely misinformed and only needs to hear the truth of "our" stories and all will be well: The other is to believe that the other group is in league with some desperate evil that is trying to destroy the beliefs we have in "our" stories, and so must be attacked.

We end up with two groups of people, each with its own collection of stories, ready to kill each other to defend its beliefs.

it,s the nature of people to be ignorant of any other faith but there own. every one has strongly held beliefs and they think that it,s right to criticise and ridicule others. I try not to do this however with some of the questions which have been posted on answers it is so hard not to ridicule people as they write the most ridiculous questions. in the religion and spirituality section there have been some of the most vitriolic hate filled questions I have ever seen, these are neither religous or spiritual it can be right in some cases to hold these up to ridicule and criticism,

Well, many of the religious beliefs espoused here simply ARE ridiculous. I wouldn't go out of my way to ridicule anything, but if someone is going to ask a ridiculous question, I'm going to point out that it was ridiculous, particularly if the person was trying to insult me in the process.

Ideally people who are not interested, or see things in a totally different way, would spend their time somewhere else. i think the "r/s" category is not clearly descriptive, or is vague, or needs to be subdivided differently. basically, it is a question of ignorance, and there is no fence to keep that out. If I know what I believe, and am confident it is truth, it won't bother me much if someone else chooses to believe something else.

I can tell you haven't been on here very long. One reason they ridicule others is because of the veil of anonomity because it is the internet. It causes people to be much more bold and aggressive than they would be face to face. Secondly, it's human nature for people to criticize anyone different from themselves. I have made it my mission lately to alert people to this issue because in case you haven't noticed, this site runs on autopilot, it's pretty much automated.

You can't. I have a stalker on here who has at least 5 clones of me. If Yahoo decides to stop being whatever it is being at the moment, maybe they'll take notice. I never did a thing to it, but she still insists on living through me to the point of hacking my other ID and using it. Some people just have no life and no independent mind of their own. Just ignore them. They seem to jump around on who they clone next.

Is asking questions such as "In what ways will God worship help me in life?" ridicule?

Why is it ridicule? Perhaps because you have no real answer?
