Tyson never beat a good heavyweight although I will give him credit for demolishing Michael Spinks who was scared to death. He fought Holyfield twice and lost. He fought Lennox Lewis and got thumped and knocked out by Buster Douglas which by the way was no fluke whatsoever! He also lost to several fighters that if he was truly a top 5 fighter would have beat. I believe that there are at least 10 fighters that would have beat him in the history of boxing. Here are my top 5:

1. Rocky Marciano won all his fights and most by knockout. A lot of people knock him because of his size but do not realize that Rocky chose to fight at 188 lbs and trained that way to increase his stamina. He could have easily fought at 205 lbs or more. He had great knockout power and refused to lose!
2. Joe Louis had it all and was champion for almost 12 years. He had a sledgehammer jab and lightening in both fists. Once he got a man in trouble he would finish them quickly. The night he beat Schemeling in one round will always be remembered.
3. Muhammad Ali was the fastest heavyweight ever with lightening reflexes and outstanding footwork. He also undoutedly fought against the highest level of competition ever. He controlled fights with his jab and could also take it.
4. Jack Johnson was one of the most controversial figures in sports history was a master boxer known for his ability to parry punches often seemed to be playing with his opponent. He was a very smart fighter and would have been tough against anyone.
5. George Foreman was probably the strongest heavyweight to ever step inside the ring with brutal punching power and a great jab. He was a very intimadating fighter as well. The thing that impresses me most is him winning the title at the age of 45!

I think Tyson is definitely an all-time great. His name was tainted, though, due to his constant drug abuse and overwhelming financial spendings. Mike can't take care of himself because the people around him are always taking advantage of him. Nevertheless, Tyson is still great. Nothing will change that. In fact, I would even consider him underrated nowadays. People always say he's not good enough to be on the all-time list, he's overrated, he's a fluke.
Tyson is indeed in the top five. Hell, Tyson is capable of knocking out any heavyweight in history during his prime. Here is my list: 5. Mike Tyson, 4. George Foreman 3. Rocky Marciano 2. Joe Louis 1. Muhammad Ali.

He's not in the top twenty. Randolph "Burt" Sugar boxing historian, author, actor and all around nice guy has Ali rated number 9 of all time Heavyweight greats and Tyson is/was surely nowhere Ali's caliber.

History will not be kind to Mike, he along with many other of his boxing brotheren is the definition of wasted talent. There have been and will be boxers that achieved much more than Tyson did. Jimmy Jacobs and Bill Cayton feed a young Mike Tyson just the right amount of bums to get the publics attention. They were marketing geniuses. What's more impressive than watching someone getting their head ripped off with a single punch?

Tyson had the bully factor going for him so did Liston and Foreman, but what happens when you fight a bully back? He runs, he hides he's not invincible anymore.
