I think they are right, it is one of the worst inventions because man has always manipulate the religion to control mankind. Faith is what we should have, be good, and help others. take a look to Vatican city and see how rich they are at expenses of the followers. I think religion is too manipulated. Believe in God or whatever you like to call it without any institution.

Interesting article. However, it shows the lack of religious knowledge most people today have. From about 3000 bce to AT LEAST 40,000 years ago, religion worldwide was an earth-based religion that didn't come with all our religious baggage that we have today. Unfortunately, the real culprit is Patriarchal religion that came with the newly founded Patriarchal society that centered on male inheritance and therefore the necessary control of female sexuality, the use of rape as a very successful tool of war, the concept of more territory equates greater success.THIS form of religion can certainly be argued as one of the worst inventions. However, there is a much longer history of an alternative that doesn't have these negative points (35,000 years minimum verses about 6,000 years. And we aren't talking Geiko cavemen here. Misconceptions about the intelligence, creativity and complexity of prehistoric people are horribly wrong and misinformed). And I say this as a Theologian of ancient and prehistoric religions. The evidence is overwhelming to the point that this can no longer be responsibly denied, like evolution. This doesn't mean we should all run out and be pagans again, especially because the majority of modern pagan groups tend to be populated by mindless goobers and sheeple. Sigh...

"The 10 worst inventions, according to the BBC Focus poll were: weapons (the worst), mobile phones, nuclear power, Sinclair C5, television, the car, cigarettes, fast food, speed cameras and religion."
Well, well. Guess we're moving to the UK. Oh, wait. We're already in Canada. Never mind.

I am religious. My religion is Wicca, but I can understand why people say that. Religion has killed millions of people worldwide just in the last 2000 years. Pagans I regret to say has had our share of killings. But Christians took over and killed just as many pagans. Then came Islam.
I guess religion by nature is divisive. Even Jesus said he did not come to bring peace, but a sword. Bother would be against sister, daughter against mother, son against father, Children would testify to put parents to death, and a man's worst enemy would be those in his houshold. Don't believe me? Get a concordence and look it up, I will not do you homework for you.It is there.
All we can to today and I believe it will be up to us pagans because Islam and christianity will not join us in this I do not believe, but all we can do is be peaceful, mind our own business, be tolerant of others, respect others as we ould respect ourselves, and live the kind of life that when people look at us they find no blame. Being blameless is different then being sinnless, Christians are suppossed to live blameless lives but they refuse, and their concept of sin means for them to be blameless according to their religion, they have to stop sinning.
For us we do not have sins like adultry, homosexuality, fornication, etc, etc, as long as everything is between consenting adults and harmes no one and breaks no laws, it is none of our business, but if we mind our business and treat others well, I believe eventually people will start asking us why we are different.
It worked for Christians when they lived good lives, but when they decided they were just saved sinners, everything went to pot for them and they have not figured it out yet
People do not like to be preached to Christians think they are carrying the mesage by being intrusive and forceful, but they have never read passages where Paul said to live good lives and when people ask a reason for the hope within you, be ready to give an answer. Oh if only this were true among christians. Christians living such a life that people would see they are different and they would be too busy answering questions about their faith to those who ask instead of forcing it on those who could care less. If only christians would stop thinking it was okay to be sinners because they are saved by grace. If they grasped that, they could turn the world upside down, but they will never grasp that I do not think.
christians should understand my point and give me , a Wiccan thumbs up, but I bet they will give me at least three thumbs down, probably more. I shall see if I am correct.*

stable. I even have found out some lot of incredibly small and imprecise religious ideals through information superhighway. i do no longer stay in a city that's colossal sufficient to have a great library with a robust selection of books approximately faith.

As a Follower of Jesus, I agree... religion takes so much away from God. He's not interested in "Religious Practices" He wants a personal relationship with each of us... nothing stands in the way of that more than religion.

That is your news. News of the the satan world. Please be knowledgeable about the word invention. You invent a material thing which is still not invented by any inventor. Religion is to be founded, to be organized or to be established
