This is usually 1 of 2 things:
1:Plugins. First, make sure you have all the latest updates installed. Now since, sadly, you are still using Internet Explorer, go to Tools-->Internet Options and click on the Programs tab. Click on the Manage Add-Ons button. You now see a list of add-ons. Your best bet is disable all of them. If you can now surf without errors, just start re-checking them one at a time. Surf a while after each. Eventually, you'll find the critter responsible though it's possible it's a conflict between 1 or more. Make sure no 2 do the same thing. If you have a lot, it's probably a conflict. Use as few as you can to avoid these problems.
2: You have a malware infection. Probably spyware. Even if the above seems to work, it's still possible that the spyware (if it is) is still in there, it's just not freaking out IE.
As a rule, what the error message means is this: "The instruction at...." means a line of code that tried to access "memory at ......" a certain place in ram and couldn't. No, it very rarely means bad ram. It just couldn't use the line of code it needed, in these cases usually because another program is trying to access it at same time, or already has it locked. Conflict. Or crappy code.
Now for the malware. Just follow the instrucions below. It's save a lot of comps, including a couple of mine.
st-Make sure to get all Windows updates DLed and installed.
1st A:Many versions of malware can, and do, hide in your system restore files. If you are sure you have a malware infection, go to Start-->Control Panel-->System and click on the System Restore tab and put a check in the 'Turn off System Restore' box. Turn it back on after you are clean.
2nd-Go to BitDefender.com for a free virus scan and cleaning. TrendMicro now charges to clean.
3rd-Download, install, and update Lavasofts's Ad-Aware (free). Do a full system scan and delete the crap it finds. Do this weekly.
4th-Download, install, and update SaferNetworking's SpyBot Search & Destroy (free). Do a full system scan and delete the crap it finds. Do this weekly
5th-download, install and update AVG Anti-spyware.(Both free and paid versions available).Do a full system scan and delete the crap it finds. Do this weekly.
If you dont have a firewall, GET ONE. ZoneAlarm has a free version.
If you dont have an anti-virus, GET ONE. Both AVG and Avast have a free version but I recommend Nod32. It's the best available and it's not very expensive (about $40 US.) Install, update and do a full system scan at least weekly.
We all hate the 'weekly' stuff but it's necessary in today's net environment. "Get it clean and keep it clean!" should be your motto.
If this doesnt fix the problem, go to techsupportforum.com (there are others but this a good, free site) for instructions and download HiJack This . DO NOT use HiJack This unless you are extremely knowledgeable about Windows and it's processes. You can seriously Bork your system. Let the pro's direct you.
For a safer, more secure, easier to use not mention faster browser, try Mozilla FireFox. For an e-mail client try Mozilla Thunderbird.
