I teach high school choir and this is one of the things I worry about most when it comes to my students. First of all, if singing makes you happy, you should keep doing it, no matter who is better than you right now. Remember, if you work hard, you can get better, and who knows, maybe she's just basking in her talent and not doing anything to improve. If you improve and she doesn't, one day you'll pass her by. Also, do you know who my favorite students are? The ones with a good attitude who try hard. I have some with beautiful voices who think they are the queen of all things, and that's not what singing is all about. It's about making music with your friends. Your voice is a very personal part of you. It's what you have, and you can choose to make the most of it or not.
I hope this helps. Please don't quit yet. If you're still unhappy at the end of the school year, maybe you should find something else, but please hang in there.

Growing up i had dreams of one day running in the olympics until i got to the state meet and saw that there were at least 10 people just a fast if not faster than, and that was just in my state. add in 49 other states and i realized that maybe i'm #250 at best. Thats not gonna get to the olympics. Therefor i had to move on, and congradulate those who were better, because it was the Truth. If someone came to me and said. Your so slow, you will never run in the olympics, i have no choice but to say, yeah your right. Eventhough they were really rude about it, but its the truth.
Please note that you never want people to like you for your skills or talents. because you never know when an accident will happen and you can no longer sing, or you break a leg and can no longer play in the NBA, And then you have no talent and no friends or who you thought were your friends. Yo uwant people to like you for you and for not getting sucked into the world of doing for show and to please others. Since your young its hard to see that, but in the future you will have people come up to you and say how they enjoyed that fact that you were always true to yourself.
If you were to die today, what would you want people to say about you?
Hannah was a great singer, or Hannah was a great person/friend.
As for your seat, tell you teacher you can't see the board and ask for a change. that should be no problem
As for suicide. you shouldnt think like that. You may feel depressed, but you haven't seen depressed. You may feel pain, but you haven't felt pain. You have more than you know. You need to take advantage of it. For example, you have access to a computer and the internet. a wealth of knowldge awaits, you just have to press the keys, 100's of MILLIONS don't have computer access or Clean WATER or proper food or shelter. Get over it!

Learn Classical Carnatic or hindusthani music for three to four years from a radio artiste or from a learned music teacher. You would see that the quality of your singing improves from the third month onwards of learning classical music. You should always be appreciated for singing whatever once you start doing alap. That is not difficult. All it requires is to practice the lessons taught for 45 minutes to one hour every day on a regular basis.

have u been learning singing, then get ur gurus opinion about ur status.if he says ur good then let the world go to hell, believe in ur potential and keep singing.why not get into singing competitions on tv and show all those from ur class where u stand.
on the other hand if ur voice is really not good then accept it.try ur hand at some other thing and excel in that, something in which ur a truly interested.

sorry but apparently she is better that you, and you are just going to have to get over it. Although you might want to consider taking singing lessons from the professionals.
