Most of those who believe it is the correct decision to stay militarily involved in Iraq do not feel that way because they are afraid of terrorists. The terrorist prevention/mitigation mission in Iraq was complete as soon as Saddam Hussein's government no longer had the ability to funnel state funds into terror organizations around the world. We need not fear that Iraq will do that again (right away)--they are no longer the wealthy nation they once were. But terrorism grows rapidly in lawless states.
War proponents believe that leaving abruptly would create an instability and leadership vacuum in Iraq and could invite another dictator, religious ruler, or terror group (like the Taliban) to gain control of Iraq creating another problem that could be worse than the one we removed.
War proponents also believe that leaving now would be tantamount to spilling something and not bothering to clean it up. We removed Hussein's government when we attacked in 2003...and until a freely elected, stable replacement has the infrastructure (law enforcement, utilities, social programs, etc) in place to administer to the population, we owe it to the Iraqi people to help with state security.

Kids in the UK start official nursery school aged 3 (half day) then go to full day education the next year. I personally think 3 is way too young as they're are just babies really but that's the system in our country so I had no choice. You're right in feeling that way and I don't understand this 'pressure' to send kids away from their mums if there's no real need (work etc). There's proof that kids that stay home longer with their parents do better in the long run and sending them to childcare/playschool at an early age, just google it! Although your sis is at work so pre-school may be ok for her. My son's 5 in May and has only just grasped writing his name and doesn't quite read yet but he's perfectly normal developmental wise so I wouldn't worry about a 3 year old not being able to do these things.

Call it a strength, or call it a weakness, the idea of historical examples (Pearl Harbor) still pervades the American mentality. After Pearl Harbor in 1941 (and I am not suggesting any conspiracy), an event like 911 (a surprise attack in an undeclared war) had the same result - America was ready to go to war. Without it, there would have been no Patriot Act, no taking out the Taliban in Afghanistan, and no taking out Saddam Hussein in Iraq.

War is only used as a last resort. The war in Iraq has come about because there must be punishments for breaking the rules. Saddam Hussien broke the rules the UN sent down to him after the Gulf War. He killed his own people, stole from his country, let children starve and die without the needed medicines so he could build more palaces, and he hid from the world the WMD that we tried so hard to catch.
No one wants war but this was one that needed to be fought.

We didn't go into Iraq because of 911. 10 years old is old enough to know the truth. We went into Iraq because there was a brutal dictator murdering hundreds of thousands of his own people and building WMD, he kicked out the UN inspectors many times which in the agreement for ceasefire he shouldn't have done. He was shooting at US planes in the no fly zone. he was using the billions of dollars he was receiving in the oil for food program to build palatial palaces for him and his family and his people were starving. He also used the money to pay off France and Russia and the United Nations to keep the US from making him behave. Now we have removed him. The people of Iraq have formed a new government, wrote their own constitution and elected their own leaders. We are now just protected the young government from those that want to take it over and create their own radical islamist government. I know this is long, but Iraq is not a simple story.

Hi little sweet 10 year old girl..
OK.. the truth is that President Bush organised September 11 with his good friends.. so they would have an excuse to invade Iraq.. and also to remove the criminal evidence against white collar criminals from the pantagon (hence the pentagon strike)this is because Iraq has the second largest oil reserves.. and America needs lots and lots of oil.. so you can have new toys and a comfortable home with all the luxuries..
If America pulls out of the war in Iraq.. the whole entire world will be happy.. but then America will suffer so much because Mr Bush has now racked up a $7Trillion deficit.. and if USA leaves Iraq.. you will no longer have so many toys to paly with.. and you might even have to work harder when you are older..
If America DOESNT leave Iraq immeidately.. and also pay the costs of repairing the country that it destroyed for no reason.. then when you are an older woman.. you will pay the price yourself.. because you will be living in a country that the rest of the world hates..
Sadly little girl.. your country is run by people who love oil a lot.. and they will do anything to get it.. evne start wars and make up lies to convince poeple like your mum that its a good idea..
Hope that helps with your science project
Oh.. and Leogirl.. you should watch a DVD called "Shifting Sands" it was filmed in Iraq before September 11 and not one of the UN inspectors was kicked out.. there were no WMD's that was a lie.. the DVd shows footage of al lthe chemical and weapons plants that had been destroyed.. in fact.. during the whole iraq war.. not one WMD was deployed.. BECAUSE THEY HAD NONE!!! Oh and the DVD is actually made BY AN AMERICAN INSPECTOR!!!

Some people believe that the war no matter what is wrong.

War at that time was OK and necessary because of what had been done to our country. But the idea was to catch those responsible and bring them to justice. Bin Laden was behind 9/11, not Saddam. We have wasted our time in not even going after the right people.
