For as long as I can remember I've had people say pardon or what? when I speak. For the longest time I had always thought that I wasn't speaking loud enough but lately I've thought about it and I think it may be because I don't pronounce the words very well and that I mumble. Is there anything like Speech Therapy out there? I've tried speaking louder but it hurts my throat. I believe this problem it effects my self confidence and the way others percieve me.

Yes, it is possible that some of the words you pronounce, may not be clear to others. Some people have a different contour of their teeth (which is natural) that renders certain words difficult to understand.
Please don't get disheartened. There are quite a lot of things you can do to improve. If you could type 'speech therapy' in Yahoo Search, you would get several sites that talk about speech therapy. You could get some information from these, though I don't know how reliable they are.
I would suggest that you make a short speech or read a passage from a book or newspaper, lasting about 5 minutes. Record your diction on a tape, play the tape back and listen to it, keeping the original text source in front of you. Listen carefully and see if you could locate some defect yourself. That would give you a clue. You could also ask a trusted friend of yours to check your pronunciation to find out if there is a problem.

Hello... did you check your speed?... maybe its audible but quick or (you tend to connect words which is not mumbling, its just confusing) ... try to speak slower than you do, allow yourself to think instead of rushing the words out.. train yourself by reading something and recording it so you can spot the problem when listening to how you speak, then you can start a simple self-training.... don't worry, it will go well if you are determined enough..

Yes, you would probably benefit from a Speech Pathologist. Talk to your family doctor. Good luck
