Hi all,

Why Malaysian people use word "Bin" and "Abdul" while writing name?

Example:
ABD. GHANI BIN MD. RAFEK
ABDUL RAHIM BIN SAMSUDIN
ABDUL RAZAK BIN DAUD
ABDUL AZIZ BIN JEMAIN
Please tell me.

In Islamic countries, "bin" means "the son of..." In Arab countries, they use the term "ibn", which means the same.

Hi! The previous answers are right. 'Bin' means 'son of' in Arabic. 'Abdul' is a part of many Muslim names. It means ' worshipper of' or 'disciple of' in Arabic and is followed by one of the 100 names of God.

'Bin' is 'son of'.

Abdul is just a very common name, and names run in families. Think of John or James in English.
