Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

SOLUTIONS

well for one, American car manufacturers can start making cars that compete with Chinese car on gas mileage and reduction of emissions.
people keep saying reducing emssions will hurt the economy, but China has done it, and you see Ford, Chrysler, GM (all American car manufacturers) are laying off workers while Chinese car manufacturers are building more plants right?
That tranlates to being competitive, exactly the oposite of what people suggest as having to become a socialist state.
I don't think those people really know what a socialist means.

we are already starting to experience the new jobs that are being created by fields that deals with the factors that cause global warming. one such field are in microbiology that creates ethanol and other bio-fuels.
many of the industrially useful chemicals these days can be created by microbes much more efficiently that by chemical production, and you don't have to become a socialist state for that.

as of, for you personally, just do things that will lower your energy bill at home.
turning off lights when not using them
don't sit in the shower for an hour
don't crank the heat up on 80
insulate well before you have to use heater and air conditioner
don't leave car running while you run into the grocery store
when you buy a new car buy one with better gas mileage, if you don't need the gas guzzling V8.

nothing that suggests socialism.
