It could be the food you are feeding them. If you are feeding a brand that is very high in cereal content this could cause the scratching and the skin problems. I would go right down to basics and feed them on cooked chicken and rice and see how it goes over a week, if they start improving then gradually introduce their feed again, if they start scratching again then you will know it is the food that is the problem and you should change them onto a brand that is high in meat and low in cereal.

a book can't cure eczema.
info in the book might help you but that info is probably found elsewhere.

best advice: look to testimonials from others that have your same condition, see what works and doesn't work. Share knowledge.

What worked for our child, and in a big way, was a British made product, Salcura Dermaspray Gentle. it's now available from a USA distributor.. or get it over the counter at a British Chemist . There's some people with hand eczema that cleared up after using salcura. Look for the testimonials on line.

My first Westie had severe eczema, and we had to take him to the vets once a month for an injection to help, this was about 18 pounds though a good 7 years ago so its probably quite a bit more costly now. My Westie I've got now, Alfie, also suffers with it, but nowhere near as severe, I find just rubbing a little E45 cream into his skin, and bathing him with fragrance free shampoo helps. But if your dogs are suffering quite badly you're going to have to take them to the vets and ask them for something to ease it for them. Unfortunately there isn't a cure, but there is stuff out there to give your dogs some relief.

You need to find out what is causing the eczema. Take them to the vet and have them allergy tested. Grasses and plants, fleas and mites, carpet and bedding, shampoos and flea treatments can all cause eczema. Get a good herbal dog shampoo from a vet or pet supply store that is for allergies and skin complaints.

I have a pit bull and he was doing the same thing. I started putting a couple of teaspoons of hamburger grease in his food daily and problem is solved.
His fur is much shinier and healthier also.
