I think it's better now than ever. the crime is down, the city has come together (unfortunately as the result of tragedy).
the only downside has been how expensive it's become.
other than that, it's an amazing place and keeps getting better.

It was a lot more fun in the 80s. Every single thing was full of possibilities and even if the place was a little gritty back then with areas of the city you simply didn't visit, it only added to its charm. New York is too Disney now.

It's safer today, but I think it was cooler in the 60s and 70s. Now, it's just too gentrified, with the inhabitants that are too wealthy. I am talking specifically about Manhattan.

Crime is down, Tourism is up, and where else can you eat a full meal at four in the morning?

I think it must have been on the 70's. It had the Studio 54, John Travolta...but I heard that NYC never has been so safe.

90's, pre-9/11. Although it is safer now, in the 90's it was fun.
