Best way to gain weight fast is to eat lots of carbohydrates (sugars, starchy food, white bread), have a bunch of beers or non-diet sodas each day. Sit around without too much physical activity (the calories should go towards weight gain, moving will burn them)
Can't say this is the healthiest thing to do though.
Eating fatty foods will also work, but you run the risk of clogging your arteries, getting high cholesterol, etc in the long run.
Sugary diet will be quicker, as they are easier to digest than fats and protein, but there you run the risk of insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, diabetes... Granted this will not be much of a problem in the short run.

Don't know how old you are (often slim people won't gain weight until they're 35+) and a lot depends on your metabolism; if you're one of those people who've always had to watch their weight, then by following the steps below, you should soon start gaining weight. On the other hand, if you already have a healthy appetite and regularly eat as much as you want, I think you will find it very difficult to gain weight. Anyway, you could try the following:
STEP 1: Eat nutritious foods that are high in calories. Examples are whole-grain breads, vegetables such as avocados and potatoes, kidney beans, lean red meat, poultry and fish.
STEP 2: Increase the caloric value of your meals. Add powdered milk to casseroles for added calories, add avocados and olives to sandwiches, add wheat germ to your cereal, add chopped meat to your pasta sauce, and so on.
STEP 3: Avoid skipping meals. Eat three meals a day and at least two snacks.
STEP 4: Increase your normal portion size. Take a second scoop of pasta, or add two bananas to your oatmeal.
STEP 5: Choose higher-calorie foods when given a choice. For example, corn is higher in calories than green beans.
STEP 6: Relax - excessive fidgeting and restlessness can burn up a lot of calories.
STEP 7: Add weight lifting to your exercise program. It helps build muscle mass. (although I know you say you don't want this)
STEP 8: Balance your caloric intake with the number of calories you're burning. You need to be taking in more than you use up, and you may need to ease up a little on your exercise program.
Tips & Warnings : You should have a doctor rule out any physical problems, such as hormonal imbalances, if you cannot seem to put on any weight. Although it seems like a logical way to bulk up, avoid adding excess fat and sweets to your diet. Eat fats and oils in moderation; they should account for no more than 30 percent of your total caloric intake.

Eat as much high calorie foods as you can.... not necessarily junk food. Things like pasta, fatty red meat, full cream dairy products, lots of eggs and white bread. Don't do to much cardio exercise as it will just burn all the fat. I assume you are a bit under weight. This is probably due to a very fast metabolism. Try to stay healthy in the process though... cheers!

If you are taking in more calories than you are burning off, then you will gain weight. Eating foods rich in carbohydrate (pasta, bread, sugar) and fat (peanut butter, olives and olive oil, red meat) will expedite weight gain.
I spent a few months eating a huge peanut butter and jelly sandwich before going to sleep and my weight shot up probably 20 lbs in just a few months.
Please keep in mind that studies have supposedly shown that trans-fats are extremely bad for you, so try to avoid food that has been deep-fried as part of your weight-gain.
