The lupus-like syndrome is caused by side-effects of some drugs, and is so termed primarily because of the rash it produces, which is associated with true lupus. The rash is classically the "butterfly" malar rash (on both cheeks) that spares the nasolabial folds.

there are many different rash appearances due to LE.
i would guess the most common is that of small tiny red dots covering parts of the body.
