...especially when you are at home all day (work at home and stay at home Mom) and nursing a 4 month old? I used to be able to better control it, but not lately. I LOVE food, but I should be able to say no. Please offer your tips. Thanks!

I know just what you mean, When I was nursing I was RAVENOUS all the time. It made me sooo hungry. Really, your body needs really good nutrition at the moment, so if you are hungry then you should definitely eat,
I am a big believer in the fact that your body will signal its requirements to you. Eating healthy snacks is the key though.
I keep my appetite under control by telling myself that if I'm really hungry then I can snack on fruit (I hate fruit, but I know it's good for me). That's how I test myself to see if I am REALLY hungry - or just bored.. If I'm really hungry then I know that I'll eat fruit. You could do it with anything. Ask yourself "Am I really hungry? If I am, then I'll eat these carrot sticks" - or whatever.
Also, I MAKE myself stick to 3 (healthy) meals and a (healthy) morning snack and afternoon snack. If I feel hungry inbetween that, or if someone offers me something I say 'no' coz it's not in the eating time that I planned.
I also read somewhere that most times when people think that they are hungry, that it's actually thirst! So we should drink water even when we dont feel thirsty. If I feel hungry I have a glass of water first. It really helps.
All the best to you - I am really jealous. My kids are all grown up now, and I would love to have a baby to cuddle. Lucky you!
Enjoy!

Nursing will cause a great deal of strain on your body increasing your appetite. Ask your doctor. Eating a diet rich in Calcium and Vitamin A are good for you and your baby. Also you may need to get your blood sugars in cheque a good way to do that is follow the Glycemic index food program. Nutrasystems is a very good plan to follow if you can afford it. If not, there are books you can buy that you can learn the information you need to create meals to help you with this.

Exercise aids in controlling appetite.

When you are doing good aerobic exercise, your body automaticly suppresses hunger.

Put the baby on a stoller and start walking, or better yet, running. they make strollers which can be used while jogging.

Get a treadmill (or eliptic running machine, or a stationary bicycle) if you don't want to push a stroller while running. Jog on the treadmill any time you watch TV.

Going sedentary = getting fat.

Whenever you're "feeling" hungry, drink a glass of water instead. If you still feel hungry in 10 or 15 minutes, choose a healthy snack
like an apple or an orange.

Try to incorporate 20-30 minutes of exercise into your day to burn calories.
