BBC News UK has learned that the US has advanced contingency plans regarding Iran. These include air-strikes which extend beyond alleged nuclear sites, ie. air bases, naval bases & missile & command controls & most of the countrys infrastructure. The US says it is not planning an attack but is trying to persuade Iran of its need to adhere to UN resolutions.
This sure sounds like some 'heavy persuadin'.

The war between Iran and USA has many complications. USA always work on contingency plans. the report you heard from BBC is one of them. However, there is always the probability of war and both sides are evaluating eachother limits . I think that is more trying to get leverage in negotiation rather than an actual war plan. One scenario would be that US attacks iran and then leave Iraq and Afghanistan and leave the middle east to Saudia Arabia and other five nations in the Persian Gulf to confront Iran. The recent 50 billion weapons purchases by Saudi Arabia and UAE support this theory. USA and UK are also intereted in inflaming a Shia Sunni conflict in the region to free up their resources.

China does not want any war since it needs stable oil prices to contain its growth. Russia is another story. Russian do not mind a conflict here, first to test their weapons, second to sell more weapons, third since Russia is an oil exporter the price of oil will goes up and so on the economy of Russia.

So any country that has energy wants a war or continuation of current conflict including Iran. Imagine that if Iran reach to an agreement with US tomorrow the price of oil will go below 30 dollars. So Iran does not want war but wants to keep this situation forever. Europe, Japan and China are energy thirsty so they do not want war or continuation of conflict. However U.K. is the exception since U.K. can sell more Weapons as a result of conflict.

Russia helps Iran since she has been terrified by how close US is to its borders in europe and in the middle east. China helps Iran since she is practicing being a superpower very soon but they are doing it very cautiously.

The other factor that should be considered is that there are some strong lobbyist in washington who has enormous benefit in Conflic of Iraq. Both security companies and defence and oil industries.

I think since the Republicans are under great influence of these corporation, the corporation wants to keep the situation the asmr as know as uncertaintity since the geopolitics stocks as oils and defence will remain high.

These are just contingency plans. It doesn't mean that war is inevitable. Any country facing a threat from a foreign power will draw up contingency plans in order to deal with the threat it faces in order to guarantee its own security. It allows the US the advantage of being able to deal with Iran should it step out of line without having to make a knee-jerk reaction to something significant happening. The contingency plans in this case probably involve the initial use of force already in the Gulf theatre in order to strike Iran should for example the Iranians fire a nuclear warhead at Israel. The second stage of the plans would involve the heavy mobilisation of American forces around the world in order to support operations against Iran and the final stage would be the complete overall destruction of Iran. These plans take in to account all the social and political aspects of a potential war and would also feature an assessment on Iran's capabilities and what the US could realistically achieve against their military.

War is not inevitable with Iran. The US cannot afford another costly war in the Middle East and containment of Iran is the goal America will be aiming for. So many people on these forums seem to be so eager for a war between the US and Iran that I hope they will volunteer to join the military if it does happen so they can go and see how "cool" combat really is. I say that sarcastically in case anyone cannot read the inflection in this answer.

My guess is we also have plans to invade the UK and probably every other country in the world. We will not attack Iran until the Democrats get in the White House and we get attacked again. Contingency means an event (as an emergency) that may but is not certain to occur. An Operational Plan would be the next step. If you trust the BBC then you know we are not planning an attack against Iraq. If you do not trust the BBC then you are unbelievable. It sounds like you believe them, so why do you think we are getting ready for an attack? Surely you understand what contingency means.

The war US VS Iran is not possible. Iran is a country where the people are faithful to the Govt. of Iran, unlike Iraq, where there was no understanding between the people and the Govt. I, therefore think that if war is imposed on Iran, the USA will cut a sorry figure and the planning will reverse. God is in favour of Iranian nation. All depends upon the commands of God.

USA wouldn't have the BALLS to attack Iran!!

It can't even defeat a nation which had no military!! and which is now at civil war.. Iran is a much stronger foe than Iraq.. and I doubt USA has the nuts to do it.. and even if it did.. it may as well bomb Israel too.. because Iran certainly will..

Stop this war.. America needs ot fix its social problems without invading other countries to justify itself.. this is the worst segment in human history.. because you have a superpower who for 50 years now has started so many wars.. and the only benefit is some people got rich.. poverty is worse, the environment is shot.. and it's all America and it's key allies fault!!

the u.s. is already fighting with iran, in iraq. the iraqi insurgents are getting iranian aid.
i dont think we will go as far as to declare war on iran, only if they make the first move. because their would not be enough popular support for it. i also believe iran wont back down simply because nuclear weapons are not the only thing westerners want to change about them. nuclear weapons is only at the top of a long list i.e. human rights.

the guy above me is right about plans, we probably have plans to invade other nations as well.

They said we weren't planning to go into Iraq also. Credibilty out the door on that one.
And about the BBC thing; Republicans say that anyone who doesn't tow their party line is with the enemy and against them.
Kinda paranoid, no?
