when asking a girl out and she gives an answer like "No, not a good idea" or a "not right now" or something to that effect, is it okay to ask why or why not?

Is it a good idea to tell her "it's either yes or no"?

I don't like mucking around when it comes to these things. Can anyone suggest anything based on real world experience?

I'd like to hear from both guys and girls - guys who have done the asking, and girls who have responded in this way, or were asked these things. How did it make you feel?

I have said no to guys but have mostly given a reason at the same time. But those times i didn't I am glad I didn't have to justify myself because things would probably have just gotten awkward. If a girl changes her mind she'll let you know. Till then just be a guy who can be liked by everyone ;-D

I don't think its a good idea to tell her its either yes or no, that just sounds arrogant but asking her why or why not is acceptable. We all need an explanation to a rejection.

No or not right now is no at least for now. Never would be different. Depends on the relationship status.

If you get an answer in the negative just accept it, thank them for their honesty and integrity and tell them if they change their mind they know where to reach you.

I think respecting and understanding her answer will get you further than questioning her answers.

If she says, "No", ...just wipe your brow and step back while saying something like,..."Whew!!"
