She never had them a week ago, hairdresser checks for me and she said no, but she was itching like mad last night and this morning, and i looked, and it looks like she has them.
I have just boiled washed all her bedding and cushions, and my husband is away buying treatment for them today, will they be easy to get rid of as she hasnt had them long?
What is best to stop them coming back once they have gone, i tie her hair back for school, should i spray a leave in condtioner in every morning?
Thankyou to anyone who has some real answers, please no rubbish, thanks.

i recently had this problem with my son. i went into boots and the woman said to use tea tree conditioner and take out the ones which you can see then wash out the conditioner and start again. it took three hours to do and he only has a very short hair style so be prepared after it looks like you got them all out wash her hair again then put in the conditioner and leave it in over night wash and check in the morning and you may find more that you missed then wash and put conditioner in and leave just keep checking every other day for any that have hatched but you missed for about a week.
the pharmacist that i spoke to said that it was pointless using anything like full marks as that doesn't tend to work as well now a days as the lice have started to become ammune to it and that tea tree conditioner {not leave in is the best way to treat them. also you don't need to panic about washing bedding or clothes as once they leave the hair they die they only get passed through hair to hair contact. and they like clean hair so the best thing to do once you've got rid of them is to keep tying her hair back and use a adults leave in conditioner as a childs isn't strong enough every morning but becareful not to use to much on the roots as it can make her hair look greasy but still make sure you've put plenty on as they cant grip to the hair wash it out every night and give her hair the weekend off. the bnus side is her hair will be in really good condition and really soft and shiny, with NO Nits. trust me on this as i used to be a nursey nurse and swore by this and never had the problem. but you are right in treating your husband and yourself you'll need to let anybody eslse know if they've cxome in contact with your child in the last week, you don't have to tell them the full extent just say "i just thought i'd let you know i've just found a headlice and thought i'd tell you so your can keep an eye out"
i hope this helps as it certainly did with my son and myself. Good luck isn't school age a great time!!!

head lice are a fact of life with girls of school age im affraid.... they cannot live once they have left the hair, but if it makes you feel better by cleaning all of the furnishings then i can understand!! lice only are attracted to clean hair and with children being children they are more likely to spead throughout the school like wildfire. when you treat your daughters hair you also have to treat yourself your partner and any one else in the house and inform any body who she has had contact with in the past week. the lice may only have been come apparent over night but she will have had the 'eggs' for a number of days!!!! you can buy a comb from the chemest or supermarket which is fine enough to release the lice from the hair and is best used with conditioner on the hair. ensuring to wipe the comb after each stroke as you could be transfering the eggs back!!!! dont worry it is not something to be ashamed of and im sure that your daughter feels bad enough without having to think that she has the 'lergy'.................

Hi, First check if you or your husband have them, first thing to do is wash the hair every two days with a product I used when I had them:thursday plantation organic shampoo, you can get it at most health shops, and waitrose, first wet the hair and apply the shampoo, next use a nit comb and go through the hair a strand at a time, rinse, then apply:thursday plantation organic tea tree oil and then rinse.you'll have to do this every two days, and dry hair ,tie hair in a ponytail.(also nits don't like greesey hair)It may seem a lot to do but these products are not full of this and that like most products do,and being organic is even better.unfortunetly you can't stop them from ever coming back, hope this helps.

I even have had this problem assorted cases additionally , I even have 4 little ones so which you would be able to think of the worry ! i admire you ,examine my little ones heads each and every of the time and that i'm getting so bored stiff as for sure some little ones at faculties mothers and fathers aren`t doing their little ones heads and we don`t get the letters abode now the two alerting us of a deadly disease of lice in despite classification .. i take advantage of tea tree oil with a service oil and rub down it into their head and canopy each and every of the hair , go away on over night yet curiously the little suckers can purely carry their breath for 0.5 an hour (nits i advise) so even go away it on for 2 hours to confirm then wash off with prevalent shampoo or a tea tree shampoo then bypass in the process the hair in small sections with a nitty gritty comb .This comb could be bought on line , its £10 however the main suitable tenner I even have spent , each and every enamel is serrated so on a similar time as your combing the hair , the serrates are catching the eggs too .. that's a might desire to in battling head lice . After use wash in warm soapy water or steep it in boiling water (thats what i do ) and it relatively is utilized back and back back (with a bit of luck you won`t have too ) stable good fortune P.S . the zappers are a waste of money and time , completely ineffective

You will need to treat everyone in the house, you'll want to anyway as even if you haven't got them you'll feel itchy!
The most important thing is to get one of the special combs as shampooing will not get rid of the eggs, they are stuck to the hair, near to root. So after washing and conditioning, with more conditioner than you would normally use, take time to comb through very thoroughly. Have plenty of kitchen roll handy to wipe the comb every time you pass it through her hair. Don't be fazed by it, and try not to freak out as your little girl will feel your tension. Remind her that lice prefer clean hair so its not her fault. Very easy to pick up. Its also worth letting her school know as they can send a letter out to parents warning them to be on the look out.
If you have an open fire its worth burning the paper afterwards.

There are a lot of lice-killing medications out there, but they are highly toxic. The tried and true method (and I know many folks who've done it, always with TOTAL success) is washing your hair with TAR SOAP.
You can usually get it in health food or organic food stores with the the soaps and shampoos. It's just a black bar of soap. Just as Vaseline is a petroleum product, Tar Soap is a Tar product.
Don't be put-off by the name. It smells fine and leaves even delicate, fine hair feeling very soft - even without conditioner (although you can certainly use your regular conditioner if you want). Use Tar Soap to wash your hair for as long as you want - until you feel the lice are gone. I know one woman who liked it so much, she uses it instead of shampoo to this day!
It works because lice breathe through their skin, and the tar leaves a microscopic film coating on them - it suffocates them AND THE EGGS.
Tar soap is totally non-toxic and harmless. I have never heard of anyone being allergic to it, either.
Hope it helps!
(Obviously - she must have separate bedclothes, washcloth, towels, etc form the rest of the family)

Don't get too upset by this hunni, its normal for kids especially lil girls to pick up nits at school aswell as a whole host of childhood things, many of which are unpleasant but easily treated......
Once you have treated her, check her head often and if I was you I would inform the teacher at school. The school will send home a letter saying there is an outbreak of nits and could all parents treat their kids, this will stop your kid going back into school sitting next to a kid and getting them again - please don't think this is anything to be ashamed of - all kids get them at some time or other!

Try using "Nix" on her hair. Then you will need to run the included fine tooth comb through her hair to remove the nits (baby eggs that attach to the hair) For the bedding you will need to purchase the spray. It is available at most drugstores. Just ask the people behind the counter and they should be able to direct you to the correct products.

Modern day treatment is good and you won't need to give her a Britney or wash her hair with paraffin. Single use shampoo thingumy will treat her no problem. Calm down woman! PS you should inform the school of this or it will end up going round and round the school.

Lots of good, quick and simple preparations are available from most chemists. I am afraid there is now guaranteed way of avoiding them. If she has long hair then keeping in a tidy neat style for school will help. You will just need to check her hair daily and apply treatment as required.
