Because they must remain truly consistant with their strict policy of going against the teachings of Jesus Christ and his rebelliously open-minded reputation. Besides, Do they really need any more femininity saturating their already estrogen rampant priesthood? Plus all of their midnight tip-toeing leisure activities would definately lose their flavor knowing there is a woman in the next room. I Spent plenty of time in monistaries to know better. Lastly, I think it's offensive to God to mute progress and change through our gaining understanding of human kind and the universe we dwell in. JESUS WAS NOT SENT DOWN TO MAKE SURE THE WORLD STAYED THE SAME AND KEPT THE SAME VALUES OF THE OLD TESTIMENT. HE CAME DOWN TO WRECK THOSE OLD WAYS OF THINKING, REBEL AGAINST THOSE OLD TEACHINGS, AND WAS MURDERED DOING SO! JESUS CHRIST DEFINES CHANGE. (I want to be a revolutionary like he was!)

<> The Catholic Church does not discriminate against women. <> Big Problem #1 - you don't appear to understand what the Church and it's Clergy are: The Catholic is NOT a corporation. The Catholic Church is a church. The Clergy is not a "job" for "applicants". The Clergy is a Calling from God. Big Problem #2 - you are not defining "equality" properly: You seem to think "equal" means "the same". It doesn't. The Church DOES teach that men and women are equal in their human dignity, but that doesn't mean men and women are "entitled" to all the same ministries. I am a man, but don't for a second think that means I can become a priest. Oh no. I cannot be a priest - even though I am a man - because I have not been called to the priesthood. I've been called to the married life. The Clergy and the Married Life are two DIFFERENT ministries - but they are both EQUAL in their DIGNITY in the Eyes of God. Men and Women are called to DIFFERENT ministries - but they are both EQUAL in their DIGNITY in the Eyes of God. <> #1 - The Catholic Church is NOT a store. #2 - Walmart doesn't have such a policy. <> The Bill of Rights in the Constitution is what prevents the government from having any authority over organized religion - but that's only relevant to the United States. There are other - much POORER - places in the world where the Catholic Church maintains it's all-male ministry; in places where money is so scarce as to be irrelevant. So obviously, money has nothing to do with it.

Firstly, there is no "right" to be a priest, for either men or women. Priests are married to the Church; it is a nuptial relationship. Both parties must consent (I have no "right" to be Brad Pitt's spouse). Secondly, Holy Mother Church does not swing that way.

Where did you ever get the idea that becoming a priest is a RIGHT? It is a CALLING.
A woman who wants to become a priest to exercise her rights is not serving God or His people, but herself.
Both men and women are called to serve God. Men become brothers or priests and women become sisters or nuns. If you look at any parish, you will probably see that teh overwhelming majority of people who are in charge of ministries in a parish are women. Women have a great deal of influence in the church at the local level.

This is changing. It was just recently discussed seriously. We are awaiting an angelic Pope I guess. I go with my wife to an Anglican Church with a woman priest. Does that make me evil?
Does that taint MY soul? Of course not. Funny that my wife does not complain when she goes with me!

I am an ex-catholic, but this goes on everywhere. In the Holy Bible it clearly says that women are not to be pastors. Men are to be above women and women are to obey their husbands. Only a feminist would think otherwise.

It's all about power. Many men feel threatened by women's power and create ways to dominate them. Many religions do this, as well as governements and cultures. Pity.

No one forces people to be Catholic.. If enough people stop going to church, and giving them money, they will listen to reason..

THE CHRISTIAN FAITH GIVES MORE EQUALITY THAN ANY RELIGION-----INSTITUTED BY JESUS --HE HAD 12 MALE APOSTLES FROM WHICH THE CHURCH LEADERS PROCEED---IF HE WANTED FEMALE PRIESTS HE COULD HAVE DONE IT THEN & THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED AS ALRIGHT SINCE THE PRECEDANT WAS ALREADY GIVEN THRU THE CEAZARS TO THE VESTAL VIRGINS....BUT JESUS WANTED THE MALE TO HAVE DOMINANCE AS WAS FIRST PROSCRIBED IN GENESIS----WHEN THE WOMAN PROVED EASILY TOO PRONE TO LISTEN TO SATAN & HIS LIES.......IT WAS THE WOMAN THAT TEMPTED MAN & SUCCEEDED IN THAT WE ALL LOST PARADISE ON EARTH FOREVER....WHY TRUST A LOSER TO LEAD EFFECTIVELY.....

The Church does not have the authority to ordain women. This is why women cannot be priests.
