I am not really looking for a lecture on road safety and I know your training covers what you do but I just want the answer to this question. You police can legitimately, in emergency situations such as to catch a speeding civillian or delivering a transplant organ, drive to the maximum capability of yourself and your vehicle. Although you do it for a job, do you sometimes find it absolutely thrilling and satisfying to do that?

Moza, what is silly about the question. It already acknowledges that there are road safety factors. Do you just enjoy being objectionable?

Barry C, Your answer to this question was so wierd and off base that I had a look at your other answers. Best advice I can give you is get some help, you are losing it, and as for this fantacy that you have about actually being a policeman, sad, very very sad. How old are you?

I notice you ask the question of police officers and get all the armchair experts instead.I was thirty years in the police and yes car chases were exciting and the majority enjoyed them. They are much closely monitored nowadays and often called off by the operations room as the officers engaged can get too engrossed to take an overall safety view, also with air support units the fleeing cars can be monitored without pursuit vehicles been in sight.

Strangely enough...no.
You do a 4 week standard driving course, in which you do response driving. This permits you to exceed the speed limit if you deem it as legitimate. Following that to be an advanced driver you do a further 4 weeks driving course, teaching you how to drive high performance vehicles safely for the public and the officers involved.
THIS IS NOT A QUALIFICATION TO CHASE A VEHICLE!
By now, after 8 weeks of driving courses, 9 to 5, 5 days a week, there is a requirement for you to do another course in how to stop a vehicle. this is a week long.
By this time you are sick to death of high speed. It is tiring, takes alot of concentration and attention and requires nerves and temperament.
If you are involved in an accident you cannot use your job or qualifications as an excuse, you are as responsible as the next person. You will also face criminal action if found to be the cause of an accident, AND it effects your own private insurance policy.

Would YOU 'enjoy' it?

what a silly question,
with so many young people getting killed by speeders these days
no one should enjoy speeding, they only drive to the maximum limits to help stop these stupid twxts who think they are a f1 driver or to save some one's life by getting the organs there in time before they die
